The Young Ones was one of the best loved sitcoms of the 80s and it featured some performers that would go on to be household names and huge stars in their own rights. In 1982, BBC Two opened the door to four students and their archaic lives, as Rik Mayall, Adrian Edmondson, Christopher Ryan and Nigel Planer played the unforgettable characters Rick, Vyvyan, Mike and Neil. Each episode would feature an array of special guests, a musical interlude by a pop favourite at the time (or Motorhead as it once was) as well as Alexei Sayle playing various members of the landlord's slightly psychotic family. The comedy only ran for 12 episodes over two series between 1982 and 1984 but it left a mark on TV comedies that live on today. Here is what happened to the cast once The Young Ones had changed the comedy landscape on television for ever. Rik Mayall Rik Mayall is probably the best known of the cast after his portrayal of student poet Rik in the BBC comedy. He was also one of … [Read more...] about The Young Ones – where stars are now from Star Wars to Spongebob and tragic deaths

Meanwhile experts said Covid variants could "scupper" the UK's roadmap out of lockdown. It appears that despite the UK's now sovereign medicine watchdog giving assurances that no increased blood clot incidence was associated with the AstraZeneca inoculation, there have been flagrant, long-standing signals that proved otherwise, as per an investigation by The Telegraph . As it has now emerged from Britain's Yellow Card system, back in January, a patient suffered a brain clot after having been administered the first dose of the AstraZeneca jab, the edition claimed. After that, in early February, two similar cases ensued, including one death and a life-changing cerebral venous sinus thrombosis clot (CVST) in a young adult. In all of the said cases, the patients, included in the Yellow Card system, showed low platelets. Addressing the issue in comments to The Telegraph, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said: "We are aware of thromboembolic events that occurred in January, however, our first report was received in the week commencing 8 … [Read more...] about Did the UK’s Pharmaceutical Regulator Miss Link Between AstraZeneca Jab and Blood Clotting?

Environmentalists are fighting the construction of Tesla's "Gigafactory" outside Berlin BERLIN - In the green forest outside Berlin, a David and Goliath-style battle is playing out between electric carmaker Tesla and environmental campaigners who want to stop its planned "gigafactory". "When I saw on TV that the Tesla factory was going to be built here, I couldn't believe it," said Steffen Schorch, driving his trusty German-made car. The 60-year-old from Erkner village in the Berlin commuter belt has become one of the faces of the fight against the US auto giant's first European factory, due to open in the Brandenburg region near Berlin in July. "Tesla needs far too much water, and the region does not have this water," said the environmental activist, a local representative of the Nabu ecologist campaign group. Announced in November 2019, Tesla's gigafactory project was warmly welcomed as an endorsement of the "Made in Germany" quality mark -- but was immediately met with … [Read more...] about From lizards to water, eco-bumps snag Tesla Berlin plant
