The best 5G phones for AT&T

What a difference a year makes, especially for 5G. The new mobile network tech, which seemed almost futuristic a year ago, is widely available today, especially in big cities where the 5G rollout has been prioritized. As such, the AT&T 5G network has expanded and covers more than 14,000 cities and towns throughout the U.S. (see our 5G coverage map for details). If you have 5G coverage, it’s likely on a sub-6 network, which is more available right now. Sub-6 relies on lower frequencies to deliver a larger wireless network, but with a tradeoff in speed, which may be only marginally faster than 4G. Another 5G variant called mmWave (millimeter wave), differs in that the network’s radio waves are much faster than sub-6 networks, offering multi-gigabit speeds at various points. It relies on frequencies that can travel short distances but cannot penetrate obstacles like walls or windows. Sub-6 frequencies travel further, sometimes a distance of miles, but the connections can’t … [Read more...] about The best 5G phones for AT&T

Budget 2021: £407billion cost of Covid unveiled in grim figures from Rishi Sunak

The Covid-19 recovery has cost the UK £407 billion, Rishi Sunak admitted today in his Budget speech. The Chancellor announced an additional £65 billion in spending on the recovery - extending furlough and other support for firms and workers through to September. He announced the creation of eight "free ports" - a scheme popular with Tory MPs to create "tax havens" within the UK. Duty on alcohol and fuel will both be frozen. And the minimum wage will increase by 19p an hour to £8.91 for over-23s. And he announced the creation of a Treasury branch office in Darlington - near to his own Richmond constituency. Describing the battering the economy had suffered during the Covid-19 pandemic, he said the forecasts show that this year the Government has borrowed a "record" £355 billion, the equivalent of 17% of the UK's national income - and the highest figure since World War II. He told MPs: "Next year, as we continue our unprecedented response to this crisis, borrowing is … [Read more...] about Budget 2021: £407billion cost of Covid unveiled in grim figures from Rishi Sunak

Instant View: US February payrolls rose more than expected, Treasury yields jump

NEW YORK: U.S. jobs increased more than expected in February amid falling new COVID-19 cases, quickening vaccination rates and additional pandemic relief money from the government, putting the labor market recovery back on firmer footing and on course for further gains in the months ahead. Nonfarm payrolls surged 379,000 jobs last month after rising 166,000 in January, the Labor Department said on Friday. In December, payrolls fell for the first time in eight months. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast February payrolls increasing by 182,000 jobs. Though the unemployment rate fell to 6.2per cent last month from 6.3per cent in January, it continues to be understated by people misclassifying themselves as being "employed but absent from work." MARKET REACTION: STOCKS: U.S. stock index futures briefly reversed gains then rallied 1.1per cent, pointing to a strong open BONDS: Yields on benchmark 10-year notes rose above 1.62per cent for the first time in a year, and … [Read more...] about Instant View: US February payrolls rose more than expected, Treasury yields jump

OPEC ignores India’s call; Saudi asks New Delhi to use cheap oil it bought last year

International oil prices rose after OPEC and its allies ignored India's plea to ease production control, with Saudi Arabia asking New Delhi to instead use oil it bought at rock bottom rates last year. Brent crude, the most widely used benchmark, on Friday rose nearly 1 % to $ 67.44 a barrel after the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and its allies, a group known as OPEC+, agreed not to increase supplies in April awaiting more substantial recovery in demand. India's Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had in the run-up to Thursday's OPEC meeting urged the producers' group to ease production curbs to fulfil their promise of stable oil prices. He felt rising international oil prices were hurting economic recovery and demand. Responding to a question on India's pleas, Saudi energy minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman at a press conference after the OPEC+ decision on Thursday said New Delhi should take some of the crude out of storage that they had purchased … [Read more...] about OPEC ignores India’s call; Saudi asks New Delhi to use cheap oil it bought last year

Covid-19: Boxer Brown Buttabean delivers health messages via humorous videos

Brown Buttabean Dave 'Brown Buttabean' Letele took matters into his own hands and created a video with Covid-19 information for his community. A professional boxer has taken it on himself to deliver important Covid-19 messages to his Pasifika community with humorous videos, after seeing the information lacking in his community. Dave ‘Brown Buttabean’ Letele created a one-minute video, both in English and in his native Samoan language, because he was concerned that important health messages were not getting across to his people. The idea came to him while listening to a radio talk back show on Tuesday that was discussing these challenges in the Pasifika community. His team, including cameraman Fa’amati Mamea, put their heads together and came up with the video while unpacking food parcels at his BBM Community headquarters at Jack Conway Avenue in Manukau. Hancock and Coffman: Congress must put aside partisanship and pass the American Rescue Plan

Last week, Americans watched the U.S. House of Representatives voted along party lines for President Joe Biden’s economic relief package, the American Rescue Plan, While some in Washington may view the COVID-19 crisis through a partisan lens, here in Colorado, we see things differently. Nearly 6,000 of our neighbors have died from this virus. More than 12,000 Coloradans applied for unemployment assistance in the past week. Small businesses have shuttered. Our towns are struggling, as the state experiences record losses in revenues. And our children have suffered through an unprecedented period of school closures and virtual learning, the impacts of which may have been detrimental to their ongoing educational and social development. Simply put, Coloradans are suffering. As mayors of two of the largest cities in Colorado — one Democrat and one Republican — we don’t see eye to eye on every issue, but we’re united about this: Coloradans need urgent relief, and the American Rescue … [Read more...] about Hancock and Coffman: Congress must put aside partisanship and pass the American Rescue Plan
