If you have spent any time on the internet in the past few days you have probably heard that over the weekend, anonymous hackers leaked stolen images of over 100 female celebrities, including Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton and Kirsten Dunst. While some commentators are shaming women for snapping explicit photographs of themselves, having simple passwords and/or trusting a flawed technological infrastructure, others are more focused on the perpetrators of the crime. As smartphones increasingly become a staple in our digital lives, their use during intimate moments will only become more prevalent. According to a new Pew study , 20 percent of users reported having received a nude photograph. If the other factors at play here, like the fascination with the female body and the existence of savvy hackers remain constant (and why wouldn't they?), it's safe to assume more leaks are on the way. So what is being done to stop this from happening? One emphasis is on prosecution. According … [Read more...] about Are Revenge Porn Laws Going Too Far?

Diablo 2 Resurrected will make use of the PS5’s DualSense features
Blizzard says Diablo 2 Resurrected will make use of PS5 DualSense features like haptic feedback . As UnGeek reports, Blizzard's Robert Gallerani and Maxine Virtue detailed the studio's plans for Diablo 2 Resurrected DualSense support during a media roundtable at BlizzCon 2021. Though the developers didn't delve much into specifics, Gallerani all but confirmed haptic feedback for the upcoming Diablo 2 remaster. "We're still working on how we want to use [the DualSense], but the haptic feedback on the controller is a really exciting thing, and so we want to make sure that we take advantage of that," Gallerani said. The DualSense's haptic feedback feature is essentially an advanced rumble pack designed to increase immersion by replicating the feeling and effects of different surfaces and items. For example, walking through sand in a game should feel gritty, while firing off shotgun rounds should send spaced-out pulses to your hands. Gallerani also detailed a few of the … [Read more...] about Diablo 2 Resurrected will make use of the PS5’s DualSense features
‘Iranian Revenge’? Owner of UK Ship Hit by Blast in Gulf of Oman Reportedly Close to Mossad Chief
The vessel hit by an explosion on Thursday in Gulf of Oman belongs to Israeli businessman Abraham Ungar who is "close to the head of Mossad [Tel Aviv's secret service]", Yossi Cohen, and Iran may have been behind the explosion, a Friday report by Kan claimed. "The explosion took place last night, south of the Straits of Hormuz, off Oman. The damage is two holes about a meter and a half in diameter, but it is not yet clear to us whether it was caused by missile fire or mines attached to the ship", Ungar told Kan, speaking about the damage sustained by the ship. "We have no idea whether this incident is a part of the tension between Iran and the United States and whether it has something to do with the fact that the owner of the ship is Israeli." Ungar suggested that the incident was most likely linked to previous attacks on shipping in the area. According to the report, the ship, "Helios Ray", belongs to the "Ray Shipping" company - a British firm owned by Ungar, whose ties with … [Read more...] about ‘Iranian Revenge’? Palit May Be Resurrecting the GeForce GTX 1060 for Crypto Miners
The cryptocurrency mining business is booming again and, according to a PC Gamer report, Palit may be getting ready to ride the wave. The company has registered multiple P106 graphics cards with the Eurasian Economics Commission (EEC). As always, these registered models may or may not make it to the market. Palit, like many other brands, launched the P106-100 back in 2017. The graphics card was based on the GP106 Pascal silicon, which is the same die that powers the highly successful GeForce GTX 1060 . In effect, the P106-100 and GeForce GTX 1060 were literally the same graphics card, aside from the removal of the video outputs on the first. As PC Gamer noted, the new part numbers sport a different nomenclature in comparison to the original part numbers. The registered part numbers fall in line with Palit's last-generation GTX 16-series graphics cards. However, it isn't likely that the manufacturer will update graphics card to the TU116 Turing silicon. Given the recent … [Read more...] about Palit May Be Resurrecting the GeForce GTX 1060 for Crypto Miners
Greg Bird, “best high school hitter in Colorado,” trying to resurrect career with Rockies
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Kevin Gausman has a prediction about Greg Bird, his buddy, and former Grandview High School teammate. “If he’s healthy, he’s definitely going to help the Rockies, because he’s a great left-handed hitter,” the San Francisco Giants starting pitcher said. “I feel pretty confident in saying that his power is going to play pretty well in Colorado. “I could definitely see him hitting some balls where Todd Helton used to, way up into the right-field seats at Coors Field. And I hope he does. I just hope it’s not against us.” The idea of Bird playing first base in LoDo is tantalizing, which is why the Rockies signed him to a minor league deal and invited him to big-league camp. “It’s a good fit, but to be quite honest, there wasn’t a lot of picking going on at my end,” said the 28-year-old Bird, adding that he feels 100% healthy after a series of injuries hijacked his promising career. “The Rockies gave me a good opportunity but I know I’m in a situation where I … [Read more...] about Greg Bird, “best high school hitter in Colorado,” trying to resurrect career with Rockies

Japan’s retail sales extend slump as COVID-19 curbs keep shoppers away
TOKYO: Retail sales in Japan tumbled at a double-digit pace for the second straight month in May as the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown measures delivered a heavy blow to consumer confidence and economic recovery prospects. The sustained downturn in demand raises risks that the world's third-largest economy could remain mired in recession longer than expected and a revival may be more sluggish. Retail sales fell 12.3 per cent in May from a year earlier. They were pulled down by a slump in spending on big ticket items such as cars as well as clothing and general merchandise, trade ministry data showed on Monday (Jun 29). The decline followed a 13.9 per cent drop in April, which was the biggest fall since March 1998. It was also worse than a 11.6 per cent fall forecast by economists in a Reuters poll. Policymakers are hoping a rebound in private spending, which accounts for more than half of the economy, will help support growth as uncertainty over the global demand … [Read more...] about Japan’s retail sales extend slump as COVID-19 curbs keep shoppers away

Shardul Thakur Blasts 57-Ball 92 as Mumbai Crush Himachal by 200 Runs in Vijay Hazare Trophy
Mumbai recovered from a deep hole against Himachal Pradesh in their Vijay Hazare Trophy match on Monday thanks to counterattack led by Shardul Thakur (92 off 57), Suryakumar Yadav (91 off 75) and Aditya Tare (83 off 98) as they went on to win by a massive 200 runs. Batting first, Mumbai posted 321/9 with Thakur leading the late assault. In reply, Himachal never looked in the hunt as they were bundled out for 121 in 24.1 overs with Prashant Solanki taking 4/31 while Shams Mulani chipping in with 3/42 and Dhawal Kulkarni taking 2/8. The other wicket went to Mohit Avasthi. Mumbai captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to bat first but soon came to regret his decision watching his team slump to 8/3 inside four overs. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal, Prithvi Shaw and no, 3 Iyer all managed two runs each before perishing before Suryakumar and Sarfaraz led a brief recovery with a 41-run partnership for the fourth wicket. However, Sarfaraz was dismissed for 11 following which … [Read more...] about Shardul Thakur Blasts 57-Ball 92 as Mumbai Crush Himachal by 200 Runs in Vijay Hazare Trophy
