Tottenham to battle Liverpool for Ligue 1 defender, is it a good deal?

After shining in Ligue 1 at the heart of Lille's impressive defence, Botman has become a subject of interest from clubs across Europe over the last few months and now Spurs have also joined the chase for the Dutch youngster. And, it has been claimed that the Lilywhites are willing to meet Lille's valuation of £40 million for the 21-year-old. Botman has emerged as one of the most promising centre-backs in Europe in Lille colours this season after previously spending 11 years with Ajax where he failed to make the grade. He was signed for just £7.8 million in the summer of 2020 by Lille and what a signing it has turned out to be. The Ligue 1 side are leading the Ligue 1 table this season with a four point lead over favourites Paris Saint Germain and a three point lead over Lyon and their impressive defence is the key reason behind it. Lille have only conceded 16 goals in 26 league games this season and Botman has played an integral role behind that. He has helped his side to keep 13 … [Read more...] about Tottenham to battle Liverpool for Ligue 1 defender, is it a good deal?

Fortnite Teaser Points To Alien DLC And Ellen Ripley, Listen Here

One very classic sci-fi horror series could be introduced to a new generation. It appears the battle royale game Fortnite is adding new content based on the Alien. The latest "Reality Log" broadcast points to a "warrant officer" coming to Fortnite, and it might be Ellen Ripley. Ellen Ripley, played by Sigourney Weaver in the Alien films, is a warrant officer. The audio transmission jokes about everything going exactly to plan on a space ship in 1986, which is the year that Aliens came out. The narrator of the audio log keeps burping and complaining about heartburn, which is surely a reference to an alien that will burst forth from his chest at any moment. :: Incoming Transmission - Reality Log 426 :: pic.twitter.com/P2aUBgDNdj — Fortnite (@FortniteGame) February 24, 2021 These Reality Log broadcasts historically signal an official announcement shortly, so keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest on whatever this teaser is pointing to. Alien would be just the … [Read more...] about Fortnite Teaser Points To Alien DLC And Ellen Ripley, Listen Here

In addition to the mammoth update for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War , the popular battle royale game Warzone is getting a big refresh for Season 2 as well. Activision ran down all the key details in a blog post , and we're highlighting the most important bits here. New Places To Explore And More Mysteries With the Season 2 update, Verdansk is expanding the number of points of interest to explore, but one shines above the rest. "Operators within the vicinity are recommended to exercise extreme caution, as the ship is carrying unknown cargo, and its crew are not able to be contacted," Activision said. The publisher further teased something strange in Verdansk. "Meanwhile, within Verdansk, something major is beginning to rumble deep underground," the publisher said. Nobody’s Normal: A Book Review

Source: Roy Richard Grinker/Norton Books, 2021 “I am disgustingly sane,” Gerald R. Ford declared in his 1973 Senate confirmation hearing when asked if he’d ever seen a psychiatrist. “Under no circumstances have I ever been treated by any person in the medical profession for psychiatry.” It was a time when mental illness and suffering were cloaked in shame . An appointment at a prominent New York psychiatrist’s office was merely a “social visit,” Ford protested. That he was even asked about it tells us volumes. As Roy Richard Grinker notes in his insightful new book, Nobody’s Normal: How Culture Created the Stigma of Mental Illness (Norton), 1973 was an especially turbulent year for American psychiatry. While veterans were pressing for recognition of “post-Vietnam syndrome,” psychiatrists were reviewing their criteria for “protest psychosis ,” supposedly a “ paranoia and delusion caused by civil disobedience.” After raucous conference panels that in some cases turned … [Read more...] about Nobody’s Normal: A Book Review

Lawyer From Capitol Riot Says He Would Die in Fight For Freedom About Election Results

A Texas-based lawyer who was fired after footage of himself outside the Capitol during the riot went viral is reasserting his willingness to die in a fight for freedom over the results of the 2020 presidential election. In December, Paul Davis replied to a tweet from former President Donald Trump calling to his supporters to the Capitol on January 6. "Never stop fighting Mr. President! Never give in no matter how ugly it gets! We are willing to die to preserve our freedom!" Davis tweeted. When asked by Law&Crime about the now-deleted tweet, Davis said, "I support freedom. And if persecuted for that. I would be willing to die." After being fired by his employer Goosehead Insurance , Davis filed a lawsuit asking a judge to block his arrest and a do-over of the 2020 election. While he said that "nothing in that lawsuit seeks to reinstall Donald Trump as president of the United States," one of the demands is for a federal judge to install former cabinet members as … [Read more...] about Lawyer From Capitol Riot Says He Would Die in Fight For Freedom About Election Results

Bipartisan lawmakers call for immediate vote on COVID-19 vaccine distribution package

Members of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus are calling for an immediate vote on a $160 billion COVID-19 vaccine distribution package in an effort to direct funding to the matter as soon as possible as Congress continues the reconciliation process on a broader package. The measure reflects the language in the Biden administration rescue plan on vaccines and the numbers that have been discussed by congressional negotiations. In addition to distributing federal funds toward vaccination efforts, the package would also boost overall funding. ADVERTISEMENT The package includes $20 billion for the National Vaccine Program’s partnership with states, tribes and territories; $50 billion for expansion of testing; $30 billion for the disaster relief fund; $5 billion for Defense Production Act Title III, which provides the administration broad authority to allocate funds for certain policies and national security purposes; $5 billion for personal protective equipment for first … [Read more...] about Bipartisan lawmakers call for immediate vote on COVID-19 vaccine distribution package

Leaders of the music industry have pledged to "disconnect" from business to support communities fighting against racial inequality as part of "Black Out Tuesday." In response to a massive wave of outrage following the death last week in Minneapolis, Minnesota, of George Floyd in police custody, major record labels denounced racial injustice on social media. They are calling for a "day of action" on June 2 to reflect and promote accountability, contemplation and change. "We stand together with the black community against all forms of racism, bigotry, and violence. Now, more than ever, we must use our voices to speak up and challenge the injustices all around us," Ron Perry, chairman of Columbia Records , a subsidiary of Sony Corporation America, said Thursday night. Warner Records made a similar announcement, pledging that activity at their labels will not continue to operate as usual, and committing to help Black Lives Matter and other organizations battling injustice. … [Read more...] about Music Industry Leaders Pledge to Participate in ‘Blackout’ to Show Solidarity with the Black Community
