Wandavision Episode 9: 18 Easter Eggs And References In “The Series Finale”

Well, it's over. WandaVision Episode 9, "The Series Finale," is streaming now on Disney+, and no matter what else you may have thought about it, the final chapter was at least full of Easter eggs and references for us to break down. If that's what you're interested in, go ahead and keep scrolling. Of course, there's a lot to say about the episode itself, and we have no doubt that fans are going to be divided on this one. On one hand, it provided closure and emotional payoff for Wanda and Vision's story so far throughout the MCU, and it was fantastic to spend so much time with these normally secondary Avengers (compared with the likes of Iron Man and Captain America, at least). On the other hand, this episode left a lot of dangling threads that may or may not be picked up down the road in future MCU movies and shows. Plus, the Evan Peters casting turned out to be a red herring all along. Can you believe it? Let us know in the comments below, and keep reading for all the Easter eggs … [Read more...] about Wandavision Episode 9: 18 Easter Eggs And References In “The Series Finale”

A lost or more resilient generation? 6 ways Covid-19 changed childhood in Singapore

SINGAPORE - Once upon a time, Children's Day was a joyous celebration of childhood in Singapore, a day to treasure the innocence and exuberance of little ones. Children's Day on Friday, though, marks eight months of the toughest and strangest year for kids. They have had to grow up suddenly in the shadow of the pandemic, often with parents who were as scared and confused as they were. "I felt kind of trapped in a cage because we were just locked into this house for 12, 13 hours a day, and we could only go outside for a short time," recalls Yaash Kirpalani, 11, of the circuit breaker. Over the months, however, tantrums transformed into habit as kids learnt to wear masks every day, trepidation over Home-Based Learning (HBL) woes evolved into baby steps towards independent learning, and misery over social isolation changed to acceptance as they found new ways to connect. The Straits Times takes a look at how the Covid-19 crisis has shaped childhood in Singapore so far this year. … [Read more...] about A lost or more resilient generation? 6 ways Covid-19 changed childhood in Singapore

We are in denial, but Bangladeshis are still flooding India’s northeast

The local labour force is streaming out of the region looking for jobs in peninsular India, creating a vacuum that makes it easier for the Bangladeshis to fill in, says R N Ravi. C ontrary to the state government’s lore -- that the unregulated influx of Bangladeshis in Assam is a thing of the past -- a recent field research by the writer shows that it is a live and kicking phenomenon. Mutation of once visceral existential fears over the unregulated migration of Bangladeshi nationals into an inexorable fatalism has been one of the striking characteristics of contemporary socio-political landscape of Assam. The issue that has seismic implications for national security, the future of Assam and its neighbours and which had once erupted into the historic Assam agitation (between 1979 and 1985) seems to be mourning at the margin today. … [Read more...] about We are in denial, but Bangladeshis are still flooding India’s northeast
