The former England cricketer took to his Instagram handle and posted an image of a farmer ploughing on the field and equated it with the Motera Stadium. Vaughan, who has led England from 2003 to 2008, had severely criticised the pitch in the Pink Ball Test at the refurbished Motera Stadium which ended in two days as 30 wickets fell in a span of 140 overs. The spinners accounted for 28 wickets out of 30 overs. India vs England: Rory Burns reprimanded for his angry tweet to Alex Hartley following Pink Ball Test defeat
Burns had expressed his displeasure to Hartley's comical tweet following England men's cricket team's shambolic 10-wicket-defeat against India in the first Day/Night Test between the two teams. India vs England: Australia spinner Nathan Lyon slams those 'crying over' turning Motera pitch in 3rd Test While referring to the women's cricket team's ODI game against New Zealand, New Zealand tweeted: "Nice of the England boys to get this test match finished just before England Women play tonight." Taking offence of Hartley's tweet, Burns replied: "Very disappointing attitude considering all the 'boys' do to support the Women's game." The tweet was even liked by England pacer James Anderson and all-rounder Ben Stokes but Burns deleted the post soon after. ISL 2020-21: FCG vs HFC: Goa hold Hyderabad to enter playoffs, set new unbeaten record
A brilliant defensive performance from Ivan Gonzalez and some crucial saves from Dheeraj Singh was enough for the Gaurs to get the point they needed. They were lucky not to concede late in the game and a good show from Hyderabad was not enough to stop Juan Ferrando’s men from qualifying for their fourth consecutive semifinals and extending their unbeaten run to 13 games. Hyderabad are still unbeaten in 2021 and extended their unbeaten run to 12 games, but they had to settle for fifth on the table. Playing without their main players was always going to be difficult for Hyderabad. They missed the services of their regular scorer Aridane Santana (fourth yellow) upfront and Chinglensana Singh (red card) in defence. But the Nizams were up for the challenge and were able to match their opponents. HFC made it difficult for Goa with incessant pressing all over the pitch and had a few chances in the opening minutes. What they lacked was the poacher’s instincts in the final third. Goa, … [Read more...] about ISL 2020-21: FCG vs HFC: Goa hold Hyderabad to enter playoffs, set new unbeaten record
ISL 2020-21: OFC vs SCEB: Odisha down East Bengal in 11-goal thriller
Doubles from two Indian youngsters Paul Ramfangzauva (49', 66') and Jerry Mawihmingthanga (51', 67') enabled Odisha to end the season on a high, with S Lalhrezuala (33') and Diego Mauricio (69') chipping in. Goals from Anthony Pilkington (24'), Aaron Joshua Holloway (60', 90'), Jeje Lalpekhlua (74') and an own goal from Ravi Kumar (37') made up East Bengal's tally. East Bengal who started brightly and scored first. Pilkington showed some great skill, striding forward into the box and unleashing a shot past Odisha keeper Ravi. SCEB dominated play soon after the goal and it looked like Odisha was in for another long night. However, they managed to turn the narrative on its head when S Lalhrezuala found the net. The goal came from a corner that the East Bengal defence failed to deal with properly, something that has cost them all season. But they were soon to retake the lead and the goal, which came just minutes later, was Odisha's season in a nutshell. Their defence failed to clear … [Read more...] about ISL 2020-21: OFC vs SCEB: Odisha down East Bengal in 11-goal thriller
Trauma Neural Networks, Experiential Holograms, and Reality
As we learn from our experiences, the brain forms neural networks to associate bits of information. The information is organized in such a way that we can detect, remember, and build upon that learning. One of the organizing factors in social learning is emotion. Emotions are a way to tag certain memories so that they can be easily retrieved. For example, if you felt betrayed, you would be able to recall similar experiences that also evoked betrayal. The emotion is the unifying string for similar experiences. Like plugging in a string of holiday lights, the string is the emotion and the lights are various experiences that line-up with that string. Trauma neural networks can be complex and deep — so deep that people can believe that who they are and who the world is consistent with their trauma network. They may believe that they are not worthy, unlovable, inadequate, out of control, guilty, bad, or endangered. These beliefs are acquired through learned experiences. This is … [Read more...] about Trauma Neural Networks, Experiential Holograms, and Reality
Blues’ Binnington throws very funny tantrum after being pulled vs. Sharks
The heat of competition can bring out the worst in people. Sometimes you lose it, and a piece of your dignity in the process. The Blues and Sharks are trading goals on Saturday, and that ended up being bad news for Devan Dubnyk , but in particular, it made Jordan Binnington ‘s night pretty miserable. Ultimately, the biggest winners? That would be us. Binnington really flipped out after being pulled from Saturday’s Sharks – Blues game. As you can see from the GIF via Brodie Brazil of NBC Sports California , Jordan Binnington did the following after being pulled vs. the Sharks: Looked like he was about to hit Erik Karlsson . Seemed to be on the verge of fighting with Devan Dubnyk. As the commentary crew rightly point out, that might not have gone well for Binnington. Made some pretty funny tough guy poses on his way out. It’s really good stuff. Honestly, even Blues fans should enjoy a little chuckle at Binnington’s tantrum. COVID-19: Guarding against burnout, compassion fatigue and trauma in frontline healthcare workers
SINGAPORE: It was a Saturday evening in late February and Dr Gareth Lim was at home, scrolling YouTube mindlessly. Out of the blue, he received something on his phone that made him jolt off his couch. A text message. “It was from one of the senior doctors who plans rosters. She was very apologetic, but she told me manpower is needed at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID). They had to activate me on quite short notice.” He was told he could say no if he did not want to be deployed. But if he said yes, he would be on the frontlines of the fight against COVID-19 in a couple of days’ time. It would be the 29-year-old’s first experience working in an outbreak scenario. Dr Lim is two years into his National Healthcare Group residency at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), where doctors are rotated from one department to another every three months to gain experience. “I'm actually quite a junior doctor,” he said bashfully. Even so, he stepped up to the plate without … [Read more...] about COVID-19: Guarding against burnout, compassion fatigue and trauma in frontline healthcare workers
