‘Fortnite’ Creative 6 Best Codes: New Deathrun, 1v1 and Skeeball Maps for March 2021

Fortnite Creative codes keep on coming, as creators get more space and new tools to expand their awesome maps. Over the past month, we've seen advancements in deathruns, 1v1 arenas, and even an interesting version of skeeball that's sure to knock your socks off. If you're looking for something fun to do in March outside Battle Royale, here are six of the best codes we've seen. 1) ESCAPE ROOM: COULROPHOBIA [2655-9116-5877] : Escape rooms have become a staple of the Fortnite Creative diet, and this new effort from SundayCW expands the genre in interesting ways. Unlike most maps of this kind, this one requires a co-op partner to play. However, that forced inclusion of two players paves the way for some truly interesting puzzles. A random encounter with a creepy clown places you in jail, but can you and a friend make it out alive? Working together is the only way to see all the weird twists and turns this map has to offer. 2) 100 Level OG Default Jonesy Deathrun [0226-6326-8437] … [Read more...] about ‘Fortnite’ Creative 6 Best Codes: New Deathrun, 1v1 and Skeeball Maps for March 2021

New version of Apple Maps coming in iOS 12

Apple is re-building Apple Maps and the new version will launch with iOS 12 this autumn. The new Maps will be available first in the US - with the North California roads covered later this week in the iOS 12 beta . We’ll have to wait a little longer to see the new Maps in the UK. A TechCrunch report explains how Apple is using data gathered by iPhones and by its own cars to completely update its “full re-set of Maps”. Apple will no longer rely on third-party data for its Maps, instead “Building all of our own map data from the ground up,” according to Apple’s Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue. One of the benefits of not working with third-parties is that corrections, updates and changes can happen quickly, according to Cue. He also notes that Apple can benefit from getting traffic data from iPhones, rather than from third-parties. One other benefit from the new Maps will be the ability for Apple to add a new road network quickly, … [Read more...] about New version of Apple Maps coming in iOS 12

How to use Apple Maps on iPhone

Apple Maps got off to a rocky start, but it has been vastly improved over recent years to become one of the best navigation apps available for iOS, even giving Google Maps a run for its money . It provides routes not only for car journeys but also walks and even public transport, points out interesting places on the way and most importantly, highlights traffic jams and road closures. But while Apple Maps is packed with features, it can be confusing to use, especially for those who haven't used the app before. In this article we explain how to use Apple Maps on an iPhone. Find destinations using Smart Suggestions Finding locations in Apple Maps couldn't be easier. If you want to browse for points of interest in your area (restaurants, cinemas, shopping centres and so on), follow these steps: In the Maps app, tap the search bar. On iPhone, the search menu will slide up and cover most of the screen. Beneath the search bar, you'll see Smart Suggestions broken down by category: … [Read more...] about How to use Apple Maps on iPhone

NDrive maps out iPad plans with latest app

NDrive Navigation System already boasts a fleet of navigation apps for the iPhone . Now the app maker has plotted a course for a new destination—the iPad. Ndrive USA HD , rolled out over the Memorial Day Weekend, doesn’t seem to be designed with the kind of in-car navigator features you’d find with NDrive’s iPhone apps. And that makes sense—unless you’ve paid up for a 3G model and a monthly service plan from AT&T, iPads largely rely on Wi-Fi connectivity so an app that requires a constant network connection would seem to be a no-go. For that reason, NDrive is touting its iPad offering’s abilities in viewing maps and planning routes. All of the map data for Ndrive USA HD is stored on the iPad itself, so you can always plan out a route even when you’re offline. (That feature also makes Ndrive a fairly hefty download—it’s 1.77GB.) When you are online, the app can use location services to find out where you are in the world. Other features in Ndrive USA HD include an … [Read more...] about NDrive maps out iPad plans with latest app

Navigon plans improved map management, interface for GPS apps

With the latest version of its iOS navigation apps, Navigon is getting leaner. But that doesn’t mean fewer features for the 2.0 version of Navigon’s MobileNavigator lineup; instead the company plans to add new map management features to its mobile offering. The 2.0 version of Navigon’s MobileNavigator apps will let users pick which map regions to download to their iPhone. Say you’ve got the MobileNavigator USA app . You can download the states you want immediately—your home area, for example—with the option of adding other states when you need them. That way, you’re only carrying around the maps you need, which Navigon says will free up storage space on your iPhone. That’s not the only map management change Navigon has in store with its forthcoming update. The company is also offering a quarterly map update feature called FreshMaps. Users will be able to get the latest maps, including updated points of interest, every three months for a one-time fee that covers the life of … [Read more...] about Navigon plans improved map management, interface for GPS apps

Google Maps Street View now available in Safari on iOS

Good news for Dora the Explorer and other map fans: Google Maps now, for the first time, offers Street View when you access the service from Safari on an iOS device. iOS users were long accustomed to having easy access to Google’s Street View, thanks to the fact that it was available within the native Maps app since late 2008. As you may have heard, however, the Maps app in iOS 6 sheds its former Google-reliance; it’s instead powered directly by Apple’s own mapping data, which the company assembled from a variety of sources. Said mapping data isn’t without its flaws , and Apple has suggested that you keep using it more so that you can report problems , which Apple in turn can fix. And CEO Tim Cook published an apology for the app’s occasional flaws and frustrations . Cook—along with Macworld —suggested that users stymied by missing features (or landmarks) in the Maps app in iOS 6 turn to providers like Google instead. The Google Maps mobile site works reasonably well … [Read more...] about Google Maps Street View now available in Safari on iOS

Contact search highlights Google Maps for iPhone update

Mapping is still a contentious issue for many iOS users, and Google looks to be taking advantage of that chink in Apple’s armor to improve its own offering. A new update to the free Google Maps for iPhone , released on Tuesday, adds a couple of new capabilities, whittling away at iOS 6’s last remaining competitive advantages. When I reviewed Google Maps in December , I noted one key weakness that the app had compared to iOS’s built-in map option: That said, Google Maps does have at least one notable shortcoming in search: Unlike Apple’s built-in Maps, it can’t recognize your contacts. So if you start entering John Smith, Google Maps won’t offer to find John Smith’s address—rather, it will look for a John Smith Street. Tuesday’s update corrects that shortcoming, but of course does it in a typically Google fashion: The app doesn’t access your iOS devices’ built-in contacts, but rather pulls them from your Google account—which means that you must have a Google account and be … [Read more...] about Contact search highlights Google Maps for iPhone update

Offline mapping, navigation improvements highlight Google Maps update

Apple may be slowly and quietly improving its Maps software, but Google isn’t exactly playing the part of a shrinking violet: The search giant’s just launched version 3.0 of Google Maps, a significant update to its free mobile mapping app for both iOS and Android. Perhaps the best feature of the update is the ability to save certain maps for offline usage. While this was previously possible in a makeshift fashion by trying to frame the map of an area before switching your phone into Airplane Mode, Google’s now codified the functionality by adding a “Save map to use offline” option in the info panes for locations. These offline maps even allow you to zoom in and out, great for navigating an area on foot when you don’t have a network connection—though you obviously can’t search those surroundings or get directions without a network connection. If you tap on your profile icon from the main screen, you’ll also see the option to edit your list of offline maps, including the … [Read more...] about Offline mapping, navigation improvements highlight Google Maps update

Mysterious Apple van fuels speculation about self-driving car or Maps overhaul

Apple might be taking a page from Google’s roadmap, if a camera-equipped Dodge Caravan spotted driving around the Bay Area is any indication. The vehicle reportedly has ties to an Apple project, but no one knows exactly what those cameras are for. San Francisco TV station KPIX captured the van driving around the town of Concord this week. All the California Department of Motor Vehicles would say is that Apple had leased the vehicle. Two guesses: Apple is finally improving its native Maps app with Google-style Street Views, or the company is developing its own self-driving cars. KPIX pointed out that Apple doesn’t have a permit to operate self-driving cars in California, but Cupertino could be leasing vehicles from a company with existing permits. Self-driving cars are the latest fad in tech—even Uber is getting in on the action —but it seems more likely that Apple is beefing up Maps with its own version of Street View or enhanced 3D mapping. If that’s the case, we might not … [Read more...] about Mysterious Apple van fuels speculation about self-driving car or Maps overhaul

Apple’s new Maps patent guides your car around cell phone dead spots

Every day when I drive over the Bay Bridge, I lose my wireless signal, just briefly. This is the firstest of first-world problems, and some days I don’t notice, but often I’m streaming music on a shuffle, and the track tries to change, and it just…can’t. It’s super annoying. Driving around the entire San Francisco Bay is obviously not an option, but if Apple follows through on a patent it received Tuesday, someday your Apple in-dash navigation system could steer you in the direction of a strong wireless signal, so you never lose touch. As reported by GigaOm , the patent is for navigation technology that takes the strength of nearby wireless signals into account when deciding how to route you. The algorithm would take into account geography like hills, the location of cellular towers, changing network loads, and even the weather. Your mobile device could also collect data on the signal strength along your route, and report that data back to Apple’s remote servers. Apple could … [Read more...] about Apple’s new Maps patent guides your car around cell phone dead spots
