Olympus FE-120 camera

Despite its $230 price tag, this 6-megapixel unit delivered very attractive photos, earning top points for its accurate colors and spot-on exposure. However, the images lacked sharpness: some high-contrast edges and fine details had a blurry, indistinct appearance. The FE-120’s case resembles a bar of soap, with rounded edges and recessed buttons. At just over 1.4 inches thick, it’s slim enough to fit into a coat pocket or handbag, and at just over 5 ounces, it won’t weigh you down. Its 3X zoom lens telescopes out of the front when you turn it on, and the controls sit nicely under your fingers when you hold the camera. Two buttons to the right of the screen allow you to flick quickly between Playback and Recording mode, and the mode dial is just below the Zoom control; all are within easy reach of the thumb. In order to keep the price down, Olympus has cut some corners. For one thing, the FE-120’s 1.8-inch LCD screen is rather weak: It’s small, low in resolution (85,000 pixels), … [Read more...] about Olympus FE-120 camera

Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe: Boris Johnson hits out at Iran with British woman’s fate still unclear despite ankle tag being removed

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said it is "totally unacceptable" that Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe is unable to leave Iran after her sentence ended. The dual UK- Iran citizen has been held in the country for five years over claims she plotted to overthrow the government - which she denies. On Sunday, the ankle tag to track her location was removed but she faces a new court date next week. Mrs Zaghari-Ratcliffe 's lawyer told Sky News she had been released after her sentence expired and could now move around, as long as she does not leave the country. Her husband, Richard Ratcliffe, called it a "mixed" development as she is still unable to return to the UK, but said his wife was happy the ankle tag was off. Advertisement Pleased to see the removal of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe’s ankle tag, but her continued confinement remains totally unacceptable. She must be released permanently so she can return to her family in the UK, and we continue to do … [Read more...] about Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe: Boris Johnson hits out at Iran with British woman’s fate still unclear despite ankle tag being removed

Thrilling choose-your-own-adventure game Lifeline leaves an astronaut’s fate in your hands

These days, keeping up with games can be a full-time job. So how do you separate the signal from the noise, the wheat from the chaff, the Temple Runs from the Temple Jumps? Allow us to help by regularly selecting a game You Should Play . A U.S. space shuttle inexplicably crashes on a moon in a galaxy far, far away. One survivor—a science student named Taylor—has managed to get her communications device working, and she’s texting…well, you. Lifeline is different (and I mean that in a good way) from the mobile games you’re used to. This choose-your-own-adventure game is all text—a running conversation between you and Taylor. Although the premise is simple, and the interface (all text with A/B choices for you to pick every so often) is very basic, this is not your usual interactive fiction game. In Lifeline, time is also a gameplay element: Taylor comes to you when she needs help, but when Taylor’s busy—say, walking to a peak that looks about an hour away—she turns off the … [Read more...] about Thrilling choose-your-own-adventure game Lifeline leaves an astronaut’s fate in your hands

Jesus Christ wasn’t a sacrifice for sin, don’t be misled!

Kindly Share This Story: By Simon Ifeanyi Ezeh First: Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world but how exactly does he do that? How and why is Jesus Christ our only Saviour and Lord? He takes away sins by revealing to mankind that God is our Father (nobody knew this prior to his incarnation – Jn 17) who is merciful and forgiving; declaring that man also has the power to forgive sins just like God (Matt 6:14,15; Jn20:23). As the Messiah, he brought forgiveness of sin down to the realm of men so that man could and should forgive whenever he is offended. This way, Jesus Christ takes away the sin of anyone who asks for God’s mercy and forgiveness as far as the petitioner forgives his offender(s) as well. This petitioner forgives his offenders and God forgives him – this is the mercy principle. So, Jesus Christ sorted out the sin problem at both levels: at the level of God and at the level of man. He solved the sin question … [Read more...] about Jesus Christ wasn’t a sacrifice for sin, don’t be misled!

I’m a meteorite dealer who makes millions selling space rocks – I’ve been kidnapped and robbed in the brutal trade

WITH a machete at his throat and a gun at his head, Mike Farmer noticed the kid holding the firearm was shaking – they were scared, and that made the situation even more dangerous. "I was just thinking: 'I'm glad my wife stayed at the hotel today – this sucks, I'm actually going to die here'," Mike tells The Sun. It was 2011 in Kenya and he'd been beaten, abducted and driven into the jungle by thieves who knew he had cash – lots of it. That's because Mike, 48, is a meteorite hunter from Tucson, Arizona. He sells his extraterrestrial minerals to amateur astronomers and billionaire businessmen alike, all of whom want to get their hands on a tangible emissary from outer space. A fireball over the skies of Britain last Sunday alone could have scattered thousands of rocks in the fields below. And while the financial and scientific rewards in finding meteorites are great, so are the risks – but Mike lives for the thrill of the chase. "I see myself as like Indiana … [Read more...] about I’m a meteorite dealer who makes millions selling space rocks – I’ve been kidnapped and robbed in the brutal trade

‘Allen v. Farrow’: Docu on 29-year-old sexual abuse case a moral reckoning in the age of #MeToo

It’s more a case of David and Goliath than “Batman v Superman.” Indeed, while the two conflicting parties grappling for their versions of the truth in HBO’s explosive four-part documentary “Allen v. Farrow” are both Hollywood celebrities, you don’t need to be an expert at rocket science to realize just how powerful one is compared to the other. We’re talking about four-time Oscar-winning writer-actor-director Woody Allen (“Annie Hall,” “Manhattan,” “Hannah and Her Sisters”) and his muse-turned-nemesis actress Mia Farrow (“Rosemary’s Baby,” “The Great Gatsby”). In the ’80s and early ’90s, the fabled couple did 13 films together. Woody, who’s now 85 years old, has made a film every year for 40 straight years, and is now preparing to shoot his 51st film—how prolific can you get? The curious case of star sons

The millennials, who love to hashtag nepotism each time a scion of a film family gets a challenging role at the cost of a grass-root actor, often forget that a generation earlier people used to wait for their favourite star’s son or daughter to be launched. In the 1980s, for the fawning public that was putting up with dynasties in politics and business, cinema was no different. They might eventually reject the star kids at the turnstiles, but they were more than happy to give them a chance. And like traditional business houses, actors used to see their sons as the cultural capital they needed to invest in for the market of show business. Growing up in a small town, one remembers old uncles discussing the futility of Dilip Kumar’s marriage with Saira Banu for it failed to provide the country another Tragedy King. Reams were written when his nephew Ayub Khan made his debut with Mashooq (1992). The public was equally impatient to watch Dharmendra’s son flex his muscles when Sunny … [Read more...] about The curious case of star sons
