Let's get ready to rumble Android 12 can make your phone dance to the music. Jerry Hildenbrand 1 Mar 2021 1 Source: Jerry Hildenbrand / Android Central Android 12 has plenty of features to explore, but one of the coolest may be the ability for your phone's haptic motors to work in tandem with an audio stream. Because it's off-balance, it shakes and vibrates while it's spinning and this vibration is what we're feeling when our phone is on mute and someone calls. Haptic feedback isn't a … [Read more...] about Android 12 features we love: Haptics and audio can work together

Tencent aims to become biggest shareholder of video streaming rival iQIYI
BEIJING/HONG KONG: Tencent aims to become the biggest shareholder in video streaming rival iQIYI Inc , said two people familiar with the matter, to lower costs and counter competition in a sector boosted by stay-at-home virus policies. The Chinese social media and gaming leader has approached iQIYI's 56.2 per cent owner Baidu Inc to buy a stake of as-yet undetermined size, one of the people said. It was not immediately clear whether Tencent has approached iQIYI or what the full nature of any cooperation would entail. "A tie-up would improve their bargaining power when producing and purchasing content, and lower marketing costs that would otherwise be spent on grabbing users from each other," the person said. Plans are at an early stage and subject to change, said the people on condition of anonymity as the information was private. Nasdaq-listed iQIYI, popularly considered China's equivalent to Netflix Inc , has a market capitalisation of US$14 billion. Sony’s State of Play outlined a boring few months for the PS5
Without a PS5 launch to look forward to, Sony State of Play is considerably more boring. Throughout last year we waited with bated breath for a morsel, a crumb of news on the PS5 at each and every State of Play. On many occasions, we were left disappointed, though we should have known better as Sony kept its biggest announcements for specific events like Future of Gaming and The Road to PS5 . Regardless, like moths to a flame, we kept coming back for more. But the disappointment was part of the whirlwind that surrounded the upcoming PS5 launch. We speculated and we hoped, knowing that at some point Sony would have to share more details on its upcoming console - so we tuned in thinking “it might happen this time”. Fast forward to 2021 and the PS5 is out in the wild. As I awaited February 2021’s Sony State of Play, the memories of dismay from the previous State of Plays faded away and I let my mind wander to the endless possibilities of what Sony could showcase at the … [Read more...] about Sony’s State of Play outlined a boring few months for the PS5
Milla Jovovich wanted Monster Hunter viewers to feel ‘like they were playing the game for the first time’
In Monster Hunter , Milla Jovovich plays an outsider. Her character, a US Army ranger named Artemis, is mysteriously transported from our world to a fantastical realm filled with giant and dangerous monsters. American soldiers aren’t something you’ll find in any of Capcom’s Monster Hunter games. But Jovovich believes Artemis helped provide an important perspective — almost serving as a stand-in for a player jumping into their first experience with a Monster Hunter game. “When my character gets transported into the Monster Hunter world I was able to see it with the same eyes as when I first saw the game,” she tells The Verge . “I was just like ‘Whoa, it’s so beautiful.’ We really wanted people to feel like that when they watch the movie, like they were playing the game for the first time.” Jovovich says she was introduced to the franchise through her husband, Monster Hunter director Paul W.S. Anderson, who “had been really obsessed with this property for over 10 years.” … [Read more...] about Milla Jovovich wanted Monster Hunter viewers to feel ‘like they were playing the game for the first time’
Mystery Square Enix franchise is getting a set of new remakes
It looks like a Square Enix series is in line for a number of remakes, all coming from the company behind the recent Panzer Dragoon: Remake. A press release from Polish gaming company Forever Entertainment (via ResetEra user sebbbbe_WiiG ) reveals that it's entered a deal with Square Enix Japan to make multiple remakes, all of which are based on a single intellectual property. Which series is it actually working on? The press release says Forever and Square will withhold that information until it's time for a proper marketing campaign to begin. While we don't know which games will be coming back, we do know that the gameplay and story are set to be the same as in the originals. Most of the enhancements will be focused on modernizing the games' visuals, which was also the case with the Panzer Dragoon remake. Square Enix has a massive portfolio of intellectual properties, even if you don't count international games it has published like Tomb Raider and Deus Ex, so this … [Read more...] about Mystery Square Enix franchise is getting a set of new remakes
An Elden Ring Trailer Has Appeared Online, And It’s Old And Blurry
An old, blurry, short, shaky-cam trailer for the From Software game Elden Ring has been posted on social media. Despite its poor quality and the fact that it's old, the trailer is generating a lot of buzz because From Software has stayed so quiet on the project since it was announced. "I can only imagine what drives you to seek the Elden Ring," says the narrating voice in the trailer. "I suppose you can't be talked into turning back. Very well then!" Reporter Jeff Grubb said on Twitter that the video dates back to 2020. Separately, VGC reported that development on Elden Ring has been "significantly hampered" by COVID-19. One source told VGC that Elden Ring is unlikely to release in 2021. Reporter Jason Schreier said Elden Ring has already been delayed multiple times and that the game will be shown off "relatively soon." Recently, Xbox marketing boss Aaron Greenberg confirmed that Elden Ring will not be shown during an upcoming Xbox event. #EldenRing … [Read more...] about An Elden Ring Trailer Has Appeared Online, And It’s Old And Blurry
Elden Ring footage quietly leaked several weeks ago – and now it’s being shared publicly
A string of Elden Ring whispers and a report detailing leaked gameplay footage point to an impending reveal of new information on the under-wraps FromSoftware and George R.R. Martin collaboration. The industry chatter has served to reassure some fans concerned by the fact they had not heard anything more of the project since its announcement at E3 in June 2019. Over the weekend, Venturebeat's Jeff Grubb, speaking on the GamesBeat Decides podcast said that fans would not have to wait long for information, and alluded to having seen strong evidence the project was definitely "not vapourware". Shortly after, Bloomberg's Jason Schreier chipped in on Twitter to say there was "strong evidence floating around that the game will be shown relatively soon". Today, VGC reported in detail on the source of these whispers - an off-screen video which the website said it could not share for legal reasons. Eurogamer is aware of the leaked video material and its contents, which have been … [Read more...] about Elden Ring footage quietly leaked several weeks ago – and now it’s being shared publicly
