Bravely Default 2 review – a heady serving of nostalgia, and a theorycrafter’s dream
Square Enix's line of retro JRPGs continues with an all-new world and tale for Bravely Default, though some of the old problems persist. Sometimes, there's nothing quite so reassuring as a good old JRPG. This is a comfort blanket of a genre for players of a certain age, games that happily consume entire lazy afternoons curled up on a sofa as you slowly push numbers ever upwards. They don't come much more comforting than those producer Tomoya Asano and his team have made an art of in recent years; dipping into Square Enix's remarkable history of evocative greats, they've given us modern takes on the classic JRPG formula such as 2018's Octopath Traveler and 2012's Bravely Default. Such was the success of the original Bravely Default that it saw a small number of follow-ups, though this being the convoluted world of JRPG titling it's only now we're getting a Bravely Default 2 - that number denoting a clean break from prior games in the same way that each new Final Fantasy … [Read more...] about Bravely Default 2 review – a heady serving of nostalgia, and a theorycrafter’s dream
Toyota Urban Cruiser Review (Road Test): Is It Different Or Better Than The Vitara Brezza?
Home Car reviews oi-Promeet Ghosh By Promeet Ghosh Updated: Thursday, February 25, 2021, 18:42 [IST] Rating: 3.5 Toyota and Suzuki entered into a partnership back in August 2019, with the aim of sharing products and also developing new technologies for the Indian market. Through this partnership, Toyota entered the premium hatchback segment in the Indian market by launching the Glanza, which was essentially a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. After receiving a positive response for the premium hatchback, Toyota has now gone on to introduce the Urban Cruiser, the second product from the Suzuki-Toyota alliance. The new Toyota Urban Cruiser is based on the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. However, unlike the Glanza where the company just swapped logos, the new Urban Cruiser features a few external tweaks that make it look slightly different from the Vitara Brezza. We got our hands on the Toyota Urban … [Read more...] about Toyota Urban Cruiser Review (Road Test): Is It Different Or Better Than The Vitara Brezza?
Steam’s Top-Selling Games For January 2021 Include Dyson Sphere Program, The Medium, And Plenty Of Yakuza
As part of a monthly feature, Valve has revealed the best-selling games on Steam from January this year. One trend that was very noticeable was that 12 of the top 20 games were Early Access titles, an unprecedented number for the digital distribution platform since it launched the feature eight years ago. “Just as exciting is the fact that the success of these products in January demonstrates just how comfortable and excited players are to experience games using Early Access,” Valve said in a statement. New development teams also landed in the top 20, as studios Live Wire, Nussygame, and others all released products on Steam for the first time. Valve didn't specify any exact revenue numbers or the exact ranking for how well the games did, but the top 20 saw Bloober Team's spooky detective game The Medium , three remastered Yakuza games from Sega, and the grim reimagining of Arthurian legend in King Arthur: Knight's Tale enter the list. The rest of the list included Everspace … [Read more...] about Steam’s Top-Selling Games For January 2021 Include Dyson Sphere Program, The Medium, And Plenty Of Yakuza
GeForce RTX 3060 12GB Review: Hope Springs Eternal
The Nvidia RTX 3060 12GB brings a new level of performance to the mainstream market--sort of. Officially, the RTX 3060 launches today with prices starting at just $329. Realistically? You're as likely to find one at that price as you are to find an RTX 3060 Ti at $399, RTX 3070 at $499, or RTX 3080 at $699 — not entirely impossible, perhaps, but highly unlikely. Nvidia's Ampere architecture now powers many of the best graphics cards , and they're all seeing massive levels of demand from both gamers and cryptocurrency miners . Nvidia has added firmware and driver code to detect Ethereum mining, which should help a bit, but when people are willing to pay extreme scalper pricing on eBay , even for cards like the GTX 1660 Super and RTX 2060, everything in our GPU benchmarks hierarchy is pretty much sold out right now. Nvidia is even working with partners to bring back previous generation Turing and Pascal cards . None of that makes this a bad GPU, … [Read more...] about GeForce RTX 3060 12GB Review: Hope Springs Eternal
EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 XC Black graphics card review: $329 well spent
In terms of performance, Nvidia’s RTX 3000 series graphics cards have been a rousing success. But in every other way, it’s been a bit of disaster . The confluence of supply limitations, another explosion in crypto mining, and unexpectedly huge demand have made it nearly impossible to buy one of these new graphics cards . I hope the new GeForce RTX 3060 gets into more gamers’ hands, but there’s no guarantee. The good news? If you are able to snag one, you’ll be very pleased by the massive upgrade it will offer to your rig. Design Nvidia isn’t releasing a first-party version of the RTX 3060. That’s a shame. Not only do these “Founders Edition” models set a good standard for pricing, they also are the prettiest graphics card you can buy. With the gorgeous redesign of the 30-series cards, that’s a shame. Unfortunately, the EVGA RTX 3060 XC Black graphics card I received as a review unit isn’t as much of a looker. It’s not ugly, but it lacks a backplate, the shroud is … [Read more...] about EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 XC Black graphics card review: $329 well spent
Gaming chairs or work-from-home chairs? Ars tests two under $500
One of the most important accessories of every home office frequently gets overlooked: the chair. With this year's COVID-19-related social distancing and mandatory remote work, many of us are spending a lot more time behind a desk at home than before—and without the right chair, that extra time can translate into discomfort or outright back pain. I've never had much luck with "cheap" office chairs—a $350 mid-back office chair frequently turns into a throne of pain without sufficient extended breaks to get up and move around. Trendy Aeron chairs provide somewhat better ergonomic support for extended periods of seated work—but their $1,100 and up price tag is a little hard to swallow for many of us. This leaves the home office worker's secret weapon—the gaming chair. It has been my experience that you get more—and more comfortable—chair for your money when you shop for gaming chairs. They're designed for maximum comfort and ergonomic support for long seating periods, and they're … [Read more...] about Gaming chairs or work-from-home chairs? Ars tests two under $500
Nvidia RTX 3060 review: A fine $329 GPU, but ho-hum among the 3000 series
The past year of graphics card reviews has been an exercise in dramatic asterisks, and for good reason. Nvidia and AMD have seen fit to ensure members of the press have access to new graphics cards ahead of their retail launches, which has placed us in a comfy position to praise each of their latest-gen offerings: good prices, tons of power. Then we see our comment sections explode with unsatisfied customers wondering how the heck to actually buy them . I've since softened my tune on these pre-launch previews. I say all of this up front about the Nvidia RTX 3060 , going on sale today, February 25 (at 12pm ET, if you're interested in entering the day-one sales fray) because it's the first Nvidia GPU I've tested in a while to make my cautious stance easier. The company has been on a tear with its RTX 3000-series of cards in terms of sheer consumer value, particularly compared to equivalent prior-gen cards (the $1,499 RTX 3090 notwithstanding), but the $329 RTX 3060 (not to be … [Read more...] about Nvidia RTX 3060 review: A fine $329 GPU, but ho-hum among the 3000 series
