A second small supplemental software update has been released for MacOS High Sierra users who installed the prior release of Security Update 2017-001 for High Sierra , which fixed the root login bug but then caused a problem with file sharing . The new small software update, which apparently resolves the file sharing issue along with the root login bug, changes the build of macOS High Sierra to 17B1003. The new update should download and arrive automatically to impacted Macs running macOS High Sierra 10.13.1 . You can also check the build number of Mac OS by using the “About This Mac” screen and clicking on the “Version” text, or by turning to the command line and issuing the following syntax: sw_vers -buildVersion If the build reported is “17B1002” then you have not yet installed the new updated version of the Security Update, which should fix the file sharing bug. Things are about to get a much needed shake-up in the low-to-midrange 3-D market, thanks to Maxon. The new version of the company's 3-D-animation system, Cinema 4D, dubbed R8 and without the usual XL suffix, is being offered for less than half the price of the previous version (Reviews, June 2002). The price decrease may sound like a desperate attempt to boost sales, as other high-profile 3-D-software companies have made recently. However, Cinema 4D R8 is a huge release for Maxon, so rather than keep the program in a single package, the company is offering different modular configurations at various prices. The entry-level Cinema 4D R8 Core has almost all the features of version 7, plus several improvements, for the paltry sum of $595. This is almost the same package that was in competition with Maya and LightWave and cost more than $1,500. One of the best things about the new 9.7-inch iPad is that it keeps sparking impressive sales on the 2017 model. Take the one that’s currently running at Walmart, for instance. If you've been holding out for Black Friday to score a deal on a powerful MacBook, you'd be wise to head over to B&H Photo.
