Stitch Fix: Reluctant Pioneers Of The Slow Startup Movement

advertisement advertisement advertisement Unlike a lot of startups bolstered by VC bucks and big expectations, Stitch Fix knows when to button up and get to work. advertisement advertisement When I met with CEO Katrina Lake early last year, I had the distinct impression that she didn’t really want to talk to me. We met in the San Francisco offices her company occupied at the time. They were larger than the apartment-slash-headquarters she’d operated from while finishing up at Harvard Business School, but the space felt crowded with its four full-time employees, handful of part-timers, and racks of on-trend women’s clothes and accessories waiting to be plucked, packed, and shipped in personalized, five-item “fixes” that customers could try on, keep, or return according to their whims. Lake agreed to speak for a story about subscription commerce companies but only on the condition that neither she nor Stitch Fix would be the … [Read more...] about Stitch Fix: Reluctant Pioneers Of The Slow Startup Movement

Obama on Daunte Wright: We need to reimagine policing

Former President Obama on Tuesday called for “a full and transparent investigation” into the fatal police shooting of Daunte Wright and for the U.S. to “reimagine policing.” “Our hearts are heavy over yet another shooting of a Black man, Daunte Wright, at the hands of police. It’s important to conduct a full and transparent investigation, but this is also a reminder of just how badly we need to reimagine policing and public safety in this country,” Obama said in a statement. “Michelle and I grieve alongside the Wright family for their loss. We empathize with the pain that Black mothers, fathers, and children are feeling after yet another senseless tragedy,” Obama continued. “And we will continue to work with all fair-minded Americans to confront historical inequities and bring about nationwide changes that are so long overdue.” ADVERTISEMENT Our hearts are heavy over yet another shooting of a Black man, Daunte Wright, at the hands of police. The BBC programme recently launched a green badge initiative for children who are “climate heroes” and do such things as switching off lights or stopping using single-use plastic bottles. However, the programme garnered criticism for encouraging children to “go meat free”, according to The Times . The “go meat free” message had appeared on a screen during an episode, at the same time a host saying “or choose a meat-free meal”. The teacher told the children: “There are so many gender identities. So we know we have got male and female, but there … [Read more...] about ‘Taxpayer-Funded Indoctrination’: Farage Slams BBC Children’s Show for Anti-Meat Message
