Pope defends Iraqi trip despite Covid-19 risk, says God will provide
ABOARD THE PAPAL PLANE (REUTERS) - Pope Francis said on Monday (March 8) that he decided to visit Iraq despite a rise in Covid-19 cases after much prayer and contemplation and suggested that God would protect those who came to see him from the virus. Speaking to reporters on the plane returning from his trip, Pope Francis also said he realised that some conservative Catholics would see his meeting with Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani as "one step from heresy" but that sometimes it was necessary to take a risk in inter-religious relations. The 84-year-old Pope, speaking while standing for about 50 minutes, said the trip, his first foreign visit in 16 months, had left him much more fatigued than previous ones. But he said he felt "reborn" after "feeling like I was imprisoned" by coronavirus restrictions. He added that "84 years do not come without baggage" and that he could not say if he would make fewer trips in the future. While mask and social distancing regulations were … [Read more...] about Pope defends Iraqi trip despite Covid-19 risk, says God will provide

AT&T broke US law in scheme to beat revenue forecast, SEC lawsuit says
The Securities and Exchange Commission has sued AT&T and three AT&T executives, saying the wireless carrier leaked nonpublic data about falling phone sales to analysts in order to convince the analysts to change their revenue forecasts. This scheme helped AT&T "beat" analysts' revenue forecasts in the first quarter of 2016, the SEC said. The complaint , filed Friday in US District Court for the Southern District of New York, alleges that AT&T repeatedly violated the Securities Exchange Act and the SEC's Regulation FD (for " fair disclosure ") in March and April of 2016. The regulation "prohibit[s] selective disclosures by issuers of material nonpublic information to securities analysts," the SEC lawsuit said. AT&T executives "disclosed AT&T's internal smartphone sales data and the impact of that data on internal revenue metrics, despite the fact that internal documents specifically informed Investor Relations personnel that AT&T's revenue and sales … [Read more...] about AT&T broke US law in scheme to beat revenue forecast, SEC lawsuit says

‘Oprah With Meghan and Harry’ Ratings Deliver A Royal Flush For CBS; Beat Emmys & Globes Combined
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are no Stormy Daniels and certainly no Michael Jackson, but their sit-down with Oprah Winfrey on Sunday night was certainly a royal payoff for CBS . The two-hour Oprah with Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special pulled in 2.6 rating among adults 18-49 and 17.1 million viewers for the network in early numbers. Or put another way, right now, that’s more eyeballs than last September’s Primetime Emmys and last week’s Golden Globes put together. Coming in low, the awards ceremonies had 6.4 million and 6.9 million viewers, respectively, and ratings of 1.3 and 1.5 when the dust settled and the final numbers were in. That’s 22% less than the early numbers for Meghan and Harry in total audience and basically even with the Emmys and the Globes’ demo results added up.
