ORLANDO, Florida — The Republican Party should “absolutely” look to Florida as a model ahead of the 2022 elections, Rep. Greg Steube (R-FL) said during an exclusive interview with Breitbart News on Friday. Appearing at CPAC, Steube pointed to the America First policies touted by former President Trump, which proved to be popular even among non-traditional Republican voters. “So I hope we’re going to focus on those America First policies and concentrate on that going into 2022. We only have to take five House seats back to take the majority in Congress. Alabama will become one of the next states to eliminate a government-imposed mandate that requires people wear masks in public, sources close to the matter told Breitbart News. A source familiar with state deliberations confirmed that as soon as Friday but definitely in the coming days. Alabama will join several other states nationwide in removing its mandate requiring masks in response to the coronavirus pandemic. GOP Gov. Kay Ivey’s office has not yet confirmed what sources familiar with the state’s planning and deliberations are, but a spokeswoman for Ivey told Breitbart News she was never a fan of mandates to begin with—a sign of the coming move. “All along, Governor Ivey has made clear that she prefers personal responsibility to government mandates. CVS pharmacies in Florida are vaccinating teachers under 50 years old despite age limits on vaccine recipients imposed by the state. The chain said that it is following new guidance from the Biden administration, the Associated Press reported . It also began vaccinating day care and preschool teachers. “We’ve aligned with updated Federal Retail Pharmacy Program guidelines by making appointments available to pre-K through 12 educators and staff and childcare workers in all 17 states where we currently offer COVID-19 vaccines,” the company said in a statement to the news outlet. "This is what I got," the father, Richard Slocum, said as he placed the infant before the owner of the store in Sarasota, on Florida's Gulf coast. "He's barely used, seven and a half months old, what do you think he's worth?" The father later told officers he had been joking, but the shop owner didn't see the humour and called the police. "He was pretty serious about it," Richard Jordan told a local television news channel. "He spun the baby around, and said, 'Can I pawn this?'" The annual “Gasparilla Pirate Festival” boat parade in Tampa, Florida, is canceled for 2021, but that is not stopping Cliff Gephart and others from launching their own “Trumparilla” boat parade. “We wanted it to be patriotic. We wanted to let the world know there’s a segment of the population that wants to live our lives,” Gephart told Fox Orlando. Gephart is one of the founders of Conservative Grounds Coffee Shop in Largo, Florida. Trumparilla is slated to take place on April 17. Organizers of the event are still working out the kinks, but the flotilla route will include stops such as Beer Can Island.
