Where to buy the new iPad Pro 11 & iPad Pro 12.9 (M1, 2021 models)

Apple announced major upgrades to its iPad Pro tablets at its 20 April Spring Loaded event, including the addition of the new M1 chip which launched last November in the new MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and Mac mini computers. So what can you expect from the new iPad Pro with M1? The design hasn't really changed. Both the iPad Pro 11 and iPad Pro 12.9in have the same bezels and colour – with only the 12.9in option only getting 0.5mm thicker and 41g heavier. What you do get is up to 50% faster performance, thanks to the M1's 8-core CPU and 8-core GPU, along with 40% faster graphics compared to the 2020 iPad Pro. There's also the 5G connectivity if you tack £150 more to the non-cellular prices. Another major update is the addition of the 'Liquid Retina XDR display', borrowed from the Apple Pro Display XDR monitor – though on the 12.9in iPad Pro only. The XDR display uses mini-LED technology, allowing a full screen brightness of 1000 nits, a peak brightness of 1600nits, and a … [Read more...] about Where to buy the new iPad Pro 11 & iPad Pro 12.9 (M1, 2021 models)

New Australian cyber package includes AU$37.5m Indo-Pacific investment

The Australian government has launched a new strategy aimed at uplifting the cybersecurity capabilities of the nation and its international neighbours, pledging an additional AU$37.5 million in funding alongside a handful of greater Indo-Pacific initiatives. Australia's international Cyber and Critical Technology Engagement Strategy, according to Minister for Foreign Affairs Marise Payne, sets out the goals for a "safe, secure, and prosperous Australia, Indo-Pacific, and world, enabled by cyberspace and critical technology". It is hoped the strategy [PDF] will strengthen national security, protect Australia's democracy and sovereignty, promote economic growth, and pursue international peace and stability. The strategy supersedes the 2017 International Cyber Engagement Strategy and is centred on three main pillars -- values, security, and prosperity -- to guide Australia's international cyber and critical technology engagement. The first goal is for technology to be used to … [Read more...] about New Australian cyber package includes AU$37.5m Indo-Pacific investment

‘Exotic compact objects’ could soon break physics, new study suggests

Out in the depths of the universe, outlandish black-hole-like entities might exist with the power to redefine physics as we know it. A new study calculates that, in the coming years, gravitational wave observatories on Earth could find these hypothetical oddballs, which are known as exotic compact objects. The U.S.-based Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) and its European counterpart Virgo were built to capture ripples in the fabric of space-time radiating from massive objects like black holes and neutron stars crashing together. Yet there is always the chance that scientists could run into something unexpected. "We can't be so naïve to presume that we know everything that is out there," Luís Longo, a doctoral candidate in physics at the Universidade Federal do ABC in São Paulo, Brazil, told Live Science. New 95% guarantor mortgages: 11 things you need to know including banks offering them

The property market is set to get another boost from today as new Treasury-backed 95% mortgages enter the market in efforts to turn "generation rent into generation buy". Under the government guarantee scheme, banks and building societies will be offering mortgages to borrowers with just a 5% deposit with the government acting as the guarantor if the buyer defaults on their payments. Chancellor Rishi Sunak said the scheme would give lenders the confidence they need to start lending again after pulling hundreds of 95% deals during the pandemic. He said: "Every new homeowner and mover supports jobs right across the housing sector, but saving for a big enough deposit can be hard, especially for first-time buyers. "By giving lenders the option of a government guarantee on 95% mortgages, many more products will become available, boosting the sector, creating new jobs and helping people achieve their dream of owning their own home." So what do you need to know? We take a … [Read more...] about New 95% guarantor mortgages: 11 things you need to know including banks offering them

Chelsea fans celebrate outside Stamford Bridge after Blues QUIT Super League following furious backlash

It was later announced both Chelsea and Manchester City had both pulled out of the controversial plans, amid mounting anger among fans. Still in high school, the Pittsburgh sophomore is so hooked on AI and robotics, she’s already a mentor to other curious teens. “Honestly, I never was that interested in STEM. I wanted to be a hair stylist as a kid, which is also cool, but AI is clearly important for our future!” said Paige. “Everything changed in my freshman year, when I heard about the AI Pathways Institute.” The initiative, known as AIPI for short, began in 2019 as a three-week pilot program offered by Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania (BGCWPA). A cure for marketing’s ‘Frankenstack’ syndrome

The latest research from the 2021 Connected Benchmark report found that the average organization runs 843 individual applications. The report also found that only 29% of applications on average are integrated. With the average lifetime of an application being just four years, organizations must evolve away from being hierarchical and hardwired toward being flexible and open to change -- a composable enterprise. Marketing departments represent a line-of-business with many business applications that are mostly not integrated. The marketing technology landscape has exploded in the past decade. Just look at the trend of Scott Brinker 's Marketing Technology Landscape logo map over the past ten years: State of Marketing research from Salesforce shows that marketing leaders top challenges are customer engagements in real time, innovation, creating a cohesive customer journey across all channels, unifying customer data sources and sharing a unified view of customer data across … [Read more...] about A cure for marketing’s ‘Frankenstack’ syndrome
