Jake Paul Vs. Ben Askren Was An Absolute Screw Job For Fight Fans
Ben Askren was robbed of the chance to truly fight Jake Paul late Saturday night. Paul landed an awesome punch on Askren in the first round, and that sent the MMA star to the ground. Askren popped up ready to roll, but the refs called it! (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football) Watch the insulting ending to the fight below. Colorado’s job recovery slips some in March, but don’t blame all that snow
Colorado continued to slip behind the U.S. recovery in March, adding fewer jobs than it did in February and failing to lower the needle on its unemployment rate for the second month in a row. But it is too soon to put the state in the camp of economic laggards, economists said. “The March employment gains for Colorado were modest. Given the magnitude of the U.S. employment numbers released earlier in the month, the Colorado numbers were disappointing but not surprising,” said Broomfield economist Gary Horvath. Initially, the state had reported a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 6.6% in February , but that was revised to 6.4% following downward adjustments in the number of people who had actually rejoined the labor force and were looking for work. The state’s unemployment rate held steady in March, while the U.S. unemployment rate dropped from 6.2% to 6%. Accustomed to ranking among the 10 lowest unemployment rate states prior to the pandemic, Colorado now ranks 34th, … [Read more...] about Colorado’s job recovery slips some in March, but don’t blame all that snow
Steve Jobs: 20 Life Lessons
My feelings about Steve Jobs have always been a little mixed. I long admired his entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen and was in sheer awe of his natural instincts for what appeals to consumers. On the other hand I bristled at what I saw as his — and by extension Apple’s — occasionally capricious and even contradictory actions (App store products in or out , inability to get in front of product issues, antennaegate ) and super-secretive nature. Now, having finished the 600-plus page Steve Jobs biography by Walter Isaacson , I think I finally understand Steve Jobs. Like most of us, his personality had many sides. He could be aloof, super-intense, odd, gross, passionate, creative, driven, unfair, conciliatory and deeply introspective. He lived a rich and unique life. As I read the tome on my Kindle , I highlighted interesting, surprising and relevant passages. Now, as I look back at them I realize that many help illustrate some of the larger lessons we can all glean … [Read more...] about Steve Jobs: 20 Life Lessons
HP Job Cuts to Reach 29,000 in Reorganization
Hewlett-Packard on Monday announced it would cut 29,000 jobs from its work force — 2,000 more than it had announced in May. The disclosure, in a regulatory filing , states that the cuts will occur through fiscal year 2014, with a portion of those employees taking voluntary early retirement packages. The additional 2,000 cuts come after HP announced back in May that it planned to eliminate the jobs — roughly 8% of its workforce — to become a leaner and more profitable company. The company will book $3.7 billion in reorganization costs during the period. SEE ALSO: Sorry, Windows 8 Is Not Going to Save the PC Industry Since the last announcement, HP reported an $8.9 billion loss in its fiscal third quarter after recorded $10.8 billion in write-downs for acquisitions and restructuring costs related to its enterprise services business. That restructuring has so far resulted in the elimination of 7,300 jobs as of July 31. HP's stock price was up slightly on the news … [Read more...] about HP Job Cuts to Reach 29,000 in Reorganization
Knicks assistant coach Mike Woodson headed back to college, takes Indiana job
Before he was an NBA coach, most recently the top assistant to Tom Thibodeau in Chicago, Mike Woodson was an Indiana Hoosier. Born in Indianapolis, Woodson played for during the Bobby Knight era, playing alongside Isiah Thomas for part of that time.
