Sculpture unveiled at Timaru Girls’ High School hostel centennial
A sculpture dedicated to friendship was unveiled at the close of the centennial celebrations of the Timaru Girls’ High School hostel ‘the House’ . The House Centennial Organising Committee chairwoman Helen McCaul said the weekend’s celebrations were “absolutely fabuolus,” with attendees celbrating “our teenage years and the friends that we made when we were 12 years old that we still maitain when we’re in our 70s or 80s or even our 90s today”. McCaul said the committee wanted something that would serve as a memento of the centennial weekend, and spoke to a couple of sculptors before Christchurch sculptor Bon Suter came up with the idea for a sculpture of the head and torso of four girls looking inwards made out of Oamaru stone, with the title “Friends Forever”. McCaul said the oldest attendee of the celebrations had boarded in the hostel in 1940, with the youngest boarding in 1990. KCR may opt for cancellation of SSC exams
Telangana may follow the Central Board of Secondary Examinations (CBSE) and cancel the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations (10th class) this year as well. The exams are supposed to be conducted from May 17 to 28 with major subjects to be completed by May 22 as per the schedule of the government released on February 9. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is likely to take the final decision on cancellation after the Nagarjunasagar by-poll to be held on April 17. The surge in COVID cases and the apprehensions of parents may force the Chief Minister to cancel the exams. About six lakh students are presently enrolled in 10th class. Several parents and students have already appealed to the CM to cancel the SSC exams. In fact, a student started an online petition for the same a few days ago and it received the support of nearly 24,000 people so far. Internationally renowned choreographer Liam Scarlett dies aged 35
Choreographer Liam Scarlett has died at the age of 35, a year after leaving The Royal Ballet over allegations of inappropriate behaviour. A statement from his family said: "It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic, untimely death of our beloved Liam. "At this difficult time for all of our family, we would ask that you respect our privacy to enable us to grieve our loss." Scarlett's position with The Royal Ballet ended last year, when the Royal Opera House, which is home to the Royal Ballet Company, said that an independent investigation had concluded. Developers who have apps or games on the Oculus Store can now sell recurring subscriptions to their titles, as opposed to offering them for a one-time fee or choosing to handle the subscription process independently. This should give developers an easier, more sustainable way to offer new content, features, and tools to paid subscribers over time. Oculus told The Verge that the approval process for apps with subscriptions is similar to apps that have in-app purchases and add-ons.
