Man Utd icon Gary Neville hopes Big Six are fined £100m EACH by Real Madrid and ‘eat themselves’ as fans want punishment

GARY NEVILLE hopes the six rebel Premier League clubs are fined £100million each by Real Madrid and they end up 'eating themselves' in the messy fallout from the European Super League. And fans are also calling on the so-called 'Big Six' to be hit with a punishment within the English game. Neville was one of the strongest voices condemning Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and the two Manchester clubs for signing up to the 20-team breakaway franchise league. Fans, players, managers and pundits together made their fury known and all six made a sheepish U-turn on Tuesday night to withdraw from the ESL - less than 48 hours after their public statements signalling their intentions. But Neville still wants to see the Premier League sides made to pay for their initial plans which would likely have decimated the rest of English football. The former United and England right-back told Sky Sports : "Florentino Perez might have them on a £100m fine and I hope he does. … [Read more...] about Man Utd icon Gary Neville hopes Big Six are fined £100m EACH by Real Madrid and ‘eat themselves’ as fans want punishment

Moment unlucky online shopper destroys chest of drawers by falling on them seconds after collection

THIS is the moment an unlucky online shopper accidentally destroys a chest of drawers just seconds after collecting them. The viral video shows the poor woman tripping and crashing on top of her new set of white drawers - just moments after picking them up from the seller. Carrying the white chest of drawers that she'd just purchased, the woman can be heard thanking the seller as she makes her way back down the driveway. But as she comes towards the end of the pebbled driveway, she suddenly trips up on the kerb. Falling face first, the brand new drawers break her fall as she comes crashing on to the pavement. And her new storage can be seen completely falling apart as she tumbles to the ground on top of them, before letting out a scream. Coming to her aid, the homeowner shouts "are you okay?" before following her to the end of the driveway, along with her pup. SHOP, DROP & ROLL The unlucky woman can be heard saying: "I couldn't see where I was going." How to eat healthy food every day but still indulge in your favourite treats – and you can even have pizza

WHEN it comes to healthy eating, choice is everything. We all love to indulge in a takeaway or sweet treat once in a while but it’s important not to feel too guilty about our sweet cravings. A healthy lifestyle should be easy, practical, tasty and non-restrictive! As long as you follow an enjoyable healthy balanced diet every day, it's okay to indulge in your favourite treats in moderation. Tamara Willner nutritionist at NHS-backed healthy eating plan Second Nature says: “One of the most important but overlooked aspects of making healthy changes is making sure that we still incorporate the foods we love in our diet, rather than entirely restricting ourselves. “This means we’re far more likely to stick to our lifestyle changes in the long term, which is more important than seeing short-term results and reverting to our old ways.” Here, she reveals her top five tips for eating healthy food every day - while still being able to indulge in your favourite treats… … [Read more...] about How to eat healthy food every day but still indulge in your favourite treats – and you can even have pizza

Love Island’s Chris Hughes says he’s happier without abs after packing on pounds over lockdown

LOVE Island’s CHRIS HUGHES says he is happier WITHOUT the abs that made him one of telly’s most lusted-after men. The reality star admits he has found it “difficult” to stay in shape over lockdown . Farmer-turned-influencer Chris — who stripped off to take an ice bath live on ITV Racing last month — said: “Some days all I want to do is just eat. “When I did that ice bath challenge I was like, ‘God, my body does not look like it did four years ago in Love Island’. “But I’m happy in my own skin. It doesn’t make me any less happy with what I am now.” Unlike the stereotypical Love Islander, Chris hates going to the gym and won’t work out for very long. He said: “If I’ve got a holiday coming up I might get in the gym for a month beforehand. “But I don’t really enjoy going, if I’m honest. I just occasionally set foot in there for about 20 minutes and get out.” He also said it “has not been easy” being alone in lockdown after splitting up from former Little Mix … [Read more...] about Love Island’s Chris Hughes says he’s happier without abs after packing on pounds over lockdown

New 95% guarantor mortgages: 11 things you need to know including banks offering them

The property market is set to get another boost from today as new Treasury-backed 95% mortgages enter the market in efforts to turn "generation rent into generation buy". Under the government guarantee scheme, banks and building societies will be offering mortgages to borrowers with just a 5% deposit with the government acting as the guarantor if the buyer defaults on their payments. Chancellor Rishi Sunak said the scheme would give lenders the confidence they need to start lending again after pulling hundreds of 95% deals during the pandemic. He said: "Every new homeowner and mover supports jobs right across the housing sector, but saving for a big enough deposit can be hard, especially for first-time buyers. "By giving lenders the option of a government guarantee on 95% mortgages, many more products will become available, boosting the sector, creating new jobs and helping people achieve their dream of owning their own home." So what do you need to know? We take a … [Read more...] about New 95% guarantor mortgages: 11 things you need to know including banks offering them

Thrifty couple explain how they saved £48,000 deposit for first home in lockdown

A thrifty couple has explained how they saved almost £50,000 for a deposit on their first home by making some serious savings during the coronavirus lockdown. Louise and Mike Zanier saved cash as lockdown put an end to expensive nights out and the couple moved back in with her parents for six months and ditched takeaways. The couple also used Covid restrictions to claw back money and saved thousands by not travelling into work and no longer buying expensive takeaway coffees. The pair already had £17,000 saved for their first home but they were able to claw another £31,790 together in the last 12 months thanks to the lockdown. In total, it meant they had a £48,790 deposit to put toward their £325,000 two bed end terrace in Northfleet, Kent. Content manager Mrs Zanier, 30, says she used spreadsheets to track their spending after being inspired by money saving guru Martin Lewis, who she had previously had a work placement with. Spreadsheets showed they were spending around … [Read more...] about Thrifty couple explain how they saved £48,000 deposit for first home in lockdown

Last chance for millions to apply for a Covid payment holiday before deadline kicks in

Payment holidays have thrown a lifeline to struggling families throughout the pandemic – offering breaks on car finance, credit cards and mortgages in a climate of huge uncertainty. The support, which offers people breathing space on their essential bills, is valid for up to six months, but the final date to claim a deferral is now looming. The Financial Conduct Authority – which heads up the payments – said the most recent extension announced in January will not be extended when it expires on March 31. After this point it will be at the discretion of banks, building societies and lenders – and any deferrals granted will be marked on the bill payer’s credit score. The final cut off means those who continue to be impacted financially by Covid-19 have until March 31, 2021 to apply for a payment break of up to three months. Payment holidays can last up to a maximum of six months. So even if a homeowner has already had a mortgage payment holiday, they may be able to get a … [Read more...] about Last chance for millions to apply for a Covid payment holiday before deadline kicks in

PAPI displays fruits of anti-corruption drive

PAPI displays fruits of anti-corruption drive. Photo: VGP At last week’s release of the 2020 Provincial Governance and Public Administration Performance Index (PAPI), Dr. Paul Schuler of the PAPI Research Team said that the 2016-2021 government term saw more improvements in provincial governance and public administration with the strongest improvement in the control of corruption seen in the public sector. While each of the past five years saw corruption in the public sector better controlled, the past year saw the strongest improvement. “The result is attributed to the country’s intensified crackdown on corruption since 2016. From the citizen perspective, the anti-corruption campaign driven by the Party seems to have permeated local-level officials,” he added. Nationwide, the proportion of respondents claiming that bribes are necessary for state employment, public healthcare services, land use rights certificates, fair treatment by primary school teachers, and the granting … [Read more...] about PAPI displays fruits of anti-corruption drive

Apple announced major upgrades to its iPad Pro tablets at its 20 April Spring Loaded event, including the addition of the new M1 chip which launched last November in the new MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and Mac mini computers. So what can you expect from the new iPad Pro with M1? The design hasn't really changed. Both the iPad Pro 11 and iPad Pro 12.9in have the same bezels and colour – with only the 12.9in option only getting 0.5mm thicker and 41g heavier. What you do get is up to 50% faster performance, thanks to the M1's 8-core CPU and 8-core GPU, along with 40% faster graphics compared to the 2020 iPad Pro. There's also the 5G connectivity if you tack £150 more to the non-cellular prices. Another major update is the addition of the 'Liquid Retina XDR display', borrowed from the Apple Pro Display XDR monitor – though on the 12.9in iPad Pro only.
