The ruling left-separatist party in Scotland has vowed to introduce “anti-racist education” in order to confront the “UK’s colonial history”. The election manifesto from the Scottish National Party (SNP), dubbed “ Scotland’s Future “, said that the Black Lives Matter movement has inspired the party to mandate that schools teach Marxist-style attacks on British history to their pupils. “The Black Lives Matter movement has shone a powerful spotlight on continuing racial injustice and race-based violence, and the need for countries to face their colonial history,” said the manifesto for the party, which runs the British home nation’s devolved government — roughly equivalent to a state government in the United States. “We will create a new programme of anti-racist education in schools, including support for teachers’ professional development, allowing every school to access high-quality anti-racist education. To track progress, we will improve the reporting and publication of … [Read more...] about SNP Pledges to Introduce BLM-Style ‘Anti-Racist Education’ to Confront ‘UK’s Colonial History’

WATCH — White House Defends UN Ambassador: ‘Most People Recognize History of Systemic Racism’ in America
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki defended U.N. Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield on Friday, telling reporters that “most people recognize the history of systemic racism in our country.” On Wednesday, Thomas-Greenfield told Al Sharpton’s National Action Network (NAN) that “the original sin of slavery weaved white supremacy into our founding documents and principles.” A reporter asked Psaki about those comments, and whether President Joe Biden would keep her in her position ( transcript via White House, emphasis added): Q Thanks, Jen. The U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., Linda Thomas-Greenfield, talking to her group on Wednesday, said that white — essentially said that white supremacy is woven into our founding documents and principles. Now, this statement is getting widely criticized as essentially parroting Chinese Communist Party talking points. So is the President going to remove her from her position as the representative before that body to promote United States … [Read more...] about WATCH — White House Defends UN Ambassador: ‘Most People Recognize History of Systemic Racism’ in America
Grand National 2021: Rachael Blackmore makes history on Minella Times
Full results: the winner, the finishers, the fallers and where your horse finished U ntil Rachael Blackmore and Minella Times won the 173rd Randox Grand National at Aintree on Saturday, a female riding the winner of the world’s greatest race was purely a work of fiction, Enid Bagnold’s 1935 classic, National Velvet. But fiction is now fact and after riding six winners at Cheltenham including the Champion Hurdle, Blackmore, 31, smashed the biggest glass ceiling just about in all sport on Saturday as she rode into the history books. Now there really are no barriers, the gender discussion in the weighing room is done. Having had a dream passage round the inside through the race and never further back than eighth, Blackmore hit the front at the second last on JP McManus’s lightly weighted eight-year-old who was sent off at 11-1, much of that money being placed on the jockey rather than the horse after being crowned leading jockey at Cheltenham. The only horse to stick with … [Read more...] about Grand National 2021: Rachael Blackmore makes history on Minella Times

Congressional candidate Lauren Boebert has a history of minor arrests, court no-shows
Congressional candidate Lauren Boebert — who often espouses a pro-police, law-and-order message on the campaign trail — has been arrested and summonsed at least four times over the past decade, records show. While the three arrests and one court-ordered summons were for petty crimes — and in one case all charges were dropped — Boebert’s record is unusually long for a congressional candidate. It has become a campaign issue as the Republican from Rifle competes in a highly anticipated contest against Diane Mitsch Bush in the 3rd Congressional District , which spans western and southern Colorado. “I’m proud to be endorsed by my hometown sheriff, Lou Vallario, who knows the strength of my character. The summary here is a small fine, not charged, charge dismissed, charge dropped,” Boebert said Thursday, referring to the outcomes of her four cases. “In the meantime, Diane Mitsch Bush is intent on socializing our healthcare.” Boebert’s first run-in with police was in the fall of … [Read more...] about Congressional candidate Lauren Boebert has a history of minor arrests, court no-shows

Covid patients with sedentary habits more likely to die: Study
PARIS: Among covid patients, a lack of exercise is linked to more severe symptoms and a higher risk of death, according to a study covering nearly 50,000 people who were infected with the virus. People physically inactive for at least two years before the pandemic were more likely to be hospitalised, to require intensive care, and to die, researchers reported Tuesday in the British Journal of Sports Medicine. As a risk factor for serious Covid disease, physical inactivity was surpassed only by advanced age and a history of organ transplant, the study found. Indeed, compared to other modifiable risk factors such as smoking, obesity or hypertension, "physical inactivity was the strongest risk factor across all outcomes," the authors concluded. The pre-existing conditions most associated with severe Covid-19 infection are advanced age, being male, and having diabetes, obesity or cardiovascular disease. But up to now, a sedentary lifestyle has not been included. To see … [Read more...] about Covid patients with sedentary habits more likely to die: Study

"I've been out and open about it since 1985, it's a long time… And if we go back to the 1930s, if I've been in Nazi Germany, I would have been murdered for saying that I was trans. "Gay people were put in concentration camps. That's what this extreme right-wing thinking will do."
