BRIMFIELD (CBS/AP) — The small Massachusetts town known for its outdoor summer antiques shows has given the go-ahead for them to resume this year, but not everyone is on board. The Brimfield Select Board on Monday voted to allow this year’s Brimfield Outdoor Antiques Shows and Flea Markets to go on after the town’s Health Board met last week with state officials to discuss the logistics of the shows, which bring tens of thousands of people to town to shop a mile-long stretch of markets, The Telegram & Gazette reported. Dinh Van Dan is known as the "King of Antiques" in the northern province of Ninh Binh. His antique collection is worth hundreds of billion VND (millions of USD). Over the past 40 years, Dan, 70, has collected thousands of antiques, including the most precious and rarest items in Vietnam. The collection is estimated at about VND100 billion (over $5 million). Dan said his hobby was inherited from his father. In the past, whenever he collected a new item, Dan’s father invited his friends to his home to drink tea and talk about antiques. AN Antiques Roadshow expert apologised to a guest after they told a VERY personal story before a disappointing valuation. Sunday's edition of the BBC One show saw expert Adam Schoon faced with an array of Chinese antiques. The lady who had brought them in revealed they belonged to her great, great uncle Charlie, who had signed up to become a missionary in China after some gentlemen visited his Norfolk village in 1892. A PENSIONER on Antiques Roadshow was stunned as he was told his old clock from his sideboard is worth £20,000. The owner revealed he forked out £6,000 for the clock in the first place, which was a made of metal and brass with dove engravings.
