LABOR Secretary Silvestre Bello 3rd on Sunday urged local government units (LGUs) to hire Covid-19 contact tracers under the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DoLE) Tulong Panghanapbuhay para sa Displaced/Disadvantaged (Tupad) workers program. “In our meeting with the DILG (Department of the Interior and Local Government), I already told Acting Secretary (Bernardo) Florece that he can allocate to any LGU the number of contact tracers to be employed under our Tupad program,” Bello said in a radio interview. Tupad is an emergency employment program for displaced or disadvantaged informal sector workers. Beneficiaries are provided temporary employment and paid the prevailing daily minimum wage in their areas of assignment. The processing of applications of contact tracers to be deployed in the National Capital Region started on April 17 and will end on April 22. Bello had earlier given DoLE regional directors the discretion to approve requests of local chief executives to hire … [Read more...] about Bello urges LGUs to hire contact tracers

Some with Knicks reportedly interested in free agent Dennis Schroder
Dennis Schroder set the price. By rejecting a four-year, $84 million contract extension from the Lakers — the most Los Angeles can offer right now, and in line with what Fred VanVleet signed for last offseason — Schroder let every team know what he is looking for in a new contract this offseason. Do the Knicks want to pay that for Schroder? New York will be in the point guard market this offseason. Ian Begley of SNY recently reported interest from some in the Knicks front office in Schroder and Pelicans free agent guard Lonzo Ball . Begley went into more detail on SNY recently (hat tip Harrison Faigen at Silver Screen and Roll ): “So Schröder is a guard that some [in the Knicks’ front office] like, and Lonzo Ball has some support within the organization, but I don’t think it’s uniform support on Lonzo, or probably Dennis either. “The interesting thing here on Schröder is he’s already turned down, according to ESPN, an extension offer from the Lakers that was … [Read more...] about Some with Knicks reportedly interested in free agent Dennis Schroder
Tech tools help, but human input for Covid-19 contact tracing still essential
SINGAPORE - Technology may have sped up the contact tracing process, but it cannot replace the human element. Associate Professor Vernon Lee, who heads the Ministry of Health's (MOH) contact tracing centre, said people are still needed to sift through the data and draw inferences, making the big decisions such as whether or not to issue quarantine orders on those who have come into close contact with a Covid-19 case. "A lot of people think that just because we have technology, we can do away with manpower... and be automated," said Prof Lee, who is also director of MOH's communicable diseases division. But this is not necessarily the case, as such tools tend to pick up more information than a traditional interview would, he said. In practice, this often means looking at data from TraceTogether and SafeEntry records and comparing it against details from interviews with confirmed cases, before a decision is made on what to do next. "It's still a very laborious and time-consuming … [Read more...] about Tech tools help, but human input for Covid-19 contact tracing still essential
Alex Bowman steals win from Denny Hamlin at Richmond
For the third race in a row, Denny Hamlin was denied a win. In the Bristol dirt race, he couldn’t bump Joey Logano . Last week at Martinsville, his teammate Martin Truex Jr. caught him late. On Sunday at Richmond Raceway, it was Alex Bowman ‘s turn. Off the race’s final restart with 12 laps to go, Bowman passed Logano for second and then took the lead from Hamlin with 10 laps to go on the way to his first win of the season. MORE: Richmond Cup race results “To be honest with you, we were terrible on short runs, so we restarted third and I was like, ‘Man, if we can get out of here with a solid top five, we’ll be good,'” Bowman told Fox Sports. “We overcame a lot today. I don’t know if (crew chief) Greg (Ives) pumped the (tire) pressures way up or what he did, but that was more grip than I’ve ever had in a race car at Richmond. It worked out really well.” Bowman, who overcame a pit road penalty for an uncontrolled tire during the Stage 2 break, snapped a 23-race … [Read more...] about Alex Bowman steals win from Denny Hamlin at Richmond
Disappointment binds Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano at Richmond
Denny Hamlin shouted. Joey Logano spoke in a resigned tone. The radio conversations with their teams were different — Hamlin’s had stronger language — but the frustration was similar for both after 400 laps Sunday at Richmond Raceway. The two drivers who appeared set to duel for the victory — just as they had last month at Bristol — were left to watch Alex Bowman win . Sunday proved similar to previous races this season for Hamlin, who was strong but has yet to win a quarter of the way through the season. “It’s frustrating for sure,” Hamlin said after losing the lead to Bowman 10 laps from the finish. “I’d rather be where I am than Alex Bowman . I don’t care that he’s got a win. We’re smashing everyone. I’d still rather be where I’m at.” Bowman will take his victory and spot in the playoffs, especially since he entered the race outside a playoff spot. Hamlin does have a point, though. He won both stages, giving him a series-high five stage wins this … [Read more...] about Disappointment binds Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano at Richmond
Portimao Moto3: Acosta wins last-lap duel to take points lead
There was drama before the race, as second-row starters Deniz Oncu (Tech 3) and Darryn Binder (Petronas Sprinta) were handed pitlane starts for irresponsible riding in qualifying, with the pair joining Gresini’s Jeremy Alcoba and Binder’s teammate John McPhee. Poleman Andrea Migno grabbed the holeshot from Leopard Honda duo Xavi Artigas and Foggia, with rookie Artigas moving into the lead at the start of the next lap. Foggia found his way to the front of the pack into Turn 1 on the fourth lap and resisted a brief attack from Doha race winner Acosta on the Ajo KTM on the fifth tour. Artigas’ race came to an end at Turn 3 on lap four when Gresini’s Gabriel Rodrigo made contact with the Leopard Honda’s rear wheel, the Argentine hit with a long lap penalty for the incident. Foggia absorbed pressure from the group behind led by Acosta up until lap 18, when the Ajo rider launched a raid on the outside on the run into Turn 1. Acosta ran in too hot, however, allowing … [Read more...] about Portimao Moto3: Acosta wins last-lap duel to take points lead

However it's not known which role Vicky auditioned for but she has previously spoken about her admiration for soap actors. Vicky previously said: “I have so much respect for soap actors I really do for to sustain a character for that period of time, to learn dialogue like that. “You can go into work one day and there’s been a murder, and then all of a sudden there’s a massive explosion, and then the next day you’re having a baby. “Your head must be fried. It requires real acting ability to be able to shoot at the speed that they do. “I have huge respect for them.” Visit our Emmerdale page … [Read more...] about Line of Duty star Vicky McClure’s Emmerdale audition revealed – and she’s worlds away from Kate Fleming
