Ryan Giggs plays golf with Man Utd pal Nicky Butt as Dan James hails Robert Page’s management

DAN JAMES has backed Robert Page to lead Wales at Euro 2020 - if Ryan Giggs remains on special leave. The Manchester United winger got the Dragons' 2022 World Cup bid up and running with a late winner over the Czech Republic. Next up for Wales is the Euro finals this summer but Giggs ' managerial future is still uncertain as he is on bail until May 1 following his arrest last November on suspicion of assault, an allegation he denies. Page has lost just one of his six matches in charge and the caretaker has the backing of James if there is no decision on Giggs from the Crown Prosecution Service by the tournament. Giggs was all smiles as he played golf with Class of ‘92 team-mate Nicky Butt. Ex-United midfielder Butt, who recently left Old Trafford as head of first-head development, posted the pic of the close pals on Instagram on Wednesday. And when asked if Page is the right man for the Euros if Giggs remains absent, matchwinner James said: "Yes, definitely. … [Read more...] about Ryan Giggs plays golf with Man Utd pal Nicky Butt as Dan James hails Robert Page’s management

Love at First Sight: My Side of the Story

The saddle ring Michael bought from the Chini Lama in Nepal. Source: Elizabeth Roper Marcus My husband Michael and I fell in love at first sight, and for 50 years I’ve always told the story about that afternoon the same way. We met by chance. He’d been asked to give a lift to a college friend of mine who had been invited to the same out-of-town wedding. On their way home, they’d stopped to visit me at my parents’ country house, where I was recovering from jaw surgery. My friend called to warn me, “The guy I’m with is a dork, but he’s willing to make the detour.” Michael arrived looking remarkable in a baby-blue suit and matching fedora, not to mention the huge turquoise ring he’d bought in Nepal on a medical fellowship—it was ‘69, after all. And I? My head was wrapped like a mummy’s except for a little oval of face from forehead to upper lip. And I couldn’t talk. Though enthralled by his travel tales, which may never before have received such rapturous attention , I … [Read more...] about Love at First Sight: My Side of the Story

Why Am I Sp Bad At Typign?

I. It’s 1995, and I’m in seventh-grade keyboarding class. The school computer lab has clunky greige Apple computers loaded with Mavis Beacon software. We dutifully practice placing our fingers on the “home row”: the left hand on ASDF , right on JKL; . We practice typing short words, then sentences, aiming for accuracy and speed while keeping those fingers on the home row. This goes on once a week for three months. The class is easy. I get a decent grade. Then we switch to Health class, which is much more exciting because it talks about s-e-x. Because it’s 1995, health class spends a lot of time teaching about contraceptive foam and the sponge. Neither the sponge nor the home row method will serve me in my adult life. II. It’s the week that vaccines become available to New Yorkers age 30+, and I’m venting to friends in a group chat that I haven’t been able to book an appointment online yet. “That’s because Katie is probably typing in that she lives in BROKOLYN NWE … [Read more...] about Why Am I Sp Bad At Typign?

Britain falls silent in tribute to Prince Philip

Britain's Prince Charles, Prince of Wales and Britain's Princess Anne, Princess Royal, lead the ceremonial funeral procession of Prince Philip to St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, followed by more royal family members. AFP Photo WINDSOR, UNITED KINGDOM - Queen Elizabeth II on Saturday led Britain in a one-minute's silence in memory of her late husband, Prince Philip, as she bid him a final farewell at a funeral restricted by coronavirus rules but reflecting his long life of military and public service. The 94-year-old monarch, dressed in mourning black and a black face mask, sat inside St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, as the Duke of Edinburgh's coffin arrived on a bespoke Land Rover which he designed himself. A military gun was fired to signal the start of the solemn tribute, which was observed in shops, railway stations and at sporting events across the country. The ceremony with just 30 mourners took place entirely behind the castle's stately walls, with the public … [Read more...] about Britain falls silent in tribute to Prince Philip

LSU shows signs of the Jake Peetz offense, the spread scheme Ed Orgeron wanted to reclaim

Ed Orgeron saw the kind of offense he wanted. You know. The one that set records, produced a Heisman Trophy winner and helped win a national championship in 2019. The one that former passing-game coordinator Joe Brady took with him to the NFL as the Carolina Panthers' offensive coordinator last year. The one that Orgeron attempted to reclaim by asking Brady for references when hiring two key staff members on offense. The one that Jake Peetz, LSU's new offensive coordinator, and DJ Mangas, the team's new passing-game coordinator, began building when they arrived on campus in January. The one that debuted its revival in Tiger Stadium during LSU's spring game on Saturday — when a series of familiar formations produced deep passes, long runs and explosive touchdowns in a scrimmage that LSU's "White" team beat its "Purple" team by the inconsequential score of 23-14. LSU spring game top plays: See 4 big moments from Myles Brennan, Max Johnson, Jontre Kirklin, more Orgeron … [Read more...] about LSU shows signs of the Jake Peetz offense, the spread scheme Ed Orgeron wanted to reclaim
