HIGH POINT, N.C. (AP) — The Piedmont Fellows program doesn’t just prepare recent college graduates for a professional career. The goal of the nine-month leadership development program is to teach them to put their Christian faith into action in all aspects of their lives. “The Christian component is a very central piece to what we’re doing,” said Mike Gatton, program director. “All the college students we bring in, we make very aware of the spiritual component, and we want them to live with integrity with the Christian faith that they profess.” Piedmont Fellows, which is affiliated with a national network of similar faith-based programs called The Fellows Initiative, was launched last year by Gatton in the Triad. Five people enrolled last year and six are currently taking part in the program, which caters to young professionals in fields such as marketing, accounting, communications and other types of businesses by matching them with small to … [Read more...] about Program offers professional, spiritual growth for grads
Home Yoga spirituality Spiritual masters Paramahamsa nithyananda Paramahamsa Nithyananda oi-Staff By Staff on November 27, 2008 Ancient spiritual Masters of the East developed a wonderful system for holistic education called the gurukul system. In the Sanskrit language, it means, 'living with the Master'. The spiritual Masters came from a long lineage or school unlike the modern residential school or any such thing we know today. The original structure and system of gurukul is now non-existent. The gurukul system was based on the spiritual love of the ancient sage or Master who accepted every child who wished to become educated. The child thrived under the love, protection, and guidance of the Master. For the duration of the studies, the parents had no rights over him. Such an ideal school was supported by people who were aware of the deeper spiritual characteristics of life. Many of their practices seem strange to us today. For example, until the age of seven, children … [Read more...] about How To Be Enlightened By 21!

Details are scant, but a tweet from the company’s official account said that the festival is under “new management” — which means that its most-recent CEO, Adam Klein, who was ordered by a judge to pay more than $500,000 to former employees who sued him in 2016 over unpaid wages, is no longer involved. The company’s Twitter account, which was apparently idle for three and a half years, sprung into action today after the announcement, with a number of … [Read more...] about CMJ Music Marathon to Relaunch in 2020

James Cameron is beginning to open up a little about what we can expect from the much-anticipated Avatar this December. For example, he's been talking about the movie it owes a massive debt to: The Wizard of Oz? Talking to the LA Times, Cameron admitted that Oz's influence may not be entirely intentional: Yeah. It's my favorite movie; I had to get it in there somewhere. The production designer was Rick Carter, who actually played that out. He thought how it was, in some ways, like Dorothy's journey. I didn't quite get as much of that [when I first wrote it]. You do things sometimes as a writer subconsciously, things you're not even aware of. I'm always comfortable doing things instinctively because I see it as taping into this vein of archetype that works for a broader audience base. I don't question what I'm doing if it feels right. There might be some other references there I might not be aware of. Advertisement Avatar will be released December 18th. James Cameron on 'Avatar': … [Read more...] about Avatar’s Spiritual Father?
Source: photo by pixabay “Rarely do we find men who willingly engage in hard, solid thinking. There is an almost universal quest for easy answers and half-baked solutions. Nothing pains some people more than having to think.” —Martin Luther King, Jr. I’ve been thinking about thinking lately. In much of my writing and most of my trainings, I focus on the unconscious mind because so many people are unaware of its power and the effect it has on their lives and outcomes. But it’s occurred to me lately that a lot of people have stopped accessing the power of their conscious minds. Rather than using their conscious minds to think, analyze, weigh choices and set goals for themselves, too many people have defaulted to absorbing and regurgitating the thoughts, prejudices, goals and conclusions of others. It reminds me of the novel, Fahrenheit 451. Remember when the captain of the book-burning squad said, “The important thing for you to remember, Montag, is … [Read more...] about Tap Into Your Conscious Mind
Source: photo from pixabay “Happiness is that state of consciousness which proceeds from the achievement of one's values.” -Ayn Rand Do you know what’s really important to you? What you value most in life? I’d say that most people I meet haven’t spent much time on this question. They tell me they’re too busy coping with the busyness of life to stop and think about something as intangible as their personal values. Or they spout common phrases like “traditional family values” or “strong work ethic” without really considering what those phrases mean. (As Lewis Black notes, “Everybody's family has different values.”) Becoming crystal clear on what is really important to you is the key to leading a happy, fulfilling life. Why? Here a few reasons: Values make decisions easy. Indecision and confusion is often the result of not knowing the relative importance of things you want. For example, say you’re … [Read more...] about Valuing Your Values
