This surface approach to training often relies on instinct rather than deep insight. This lack of insight can cause uncertainty and lead to misinterpretation of the human and dog dynamic. Dehydration, a symptom of diarrhea, can cause serious complications which can include organ failure and sometimes death if not detected early in nursing dogs. This article is designed to help new breeders with the female dogs that have diarrhea and or dehydration.One way you can check for dehydration is to do the following: Using your thumb, pointer finger and middle finger pinch a good amount of skin and fur, at the base of the head, between the shoulder blades. While you have a hold of the skin and fur pull up and away from the body, forming a tent, then release and observe how fast or slow the skin and fur returns to normal.
