Doug Bracewell, who last played a Test in August 2016, also makes a comeback. Besides Ravindra and Duffy, Devon Conway is the third uncapped player in the Test squad. The 29-year-old, who has been incredibly consistent in the limited overs formats in his brief career, had earlier been called up as cover for skipper Kane Williamson, during the home Test series in December 2020, but the talented left-hander couldn’t make it to the playing XI. Overall, New Zealand have announced a strong 20-member squad for the Test series which starts on June 2. The New Zealand players involved in the Indian Premier League will be managed “on a case by case basis depending on when their team exits the tournament.” Kane Williamson, Mitchell Santner, Trent Boult and Kyle Jamieson are the four New players who will take part in IPL.
