It was the first cricketing day in office for Sourav Ganguly and he had a series of meetings at the Cricket Centre — with MSK-Prasad’s selection committee, Virat Kohli and then Rohit Sharma. Not much of what transpired with them is not known but what can be said with certainty is that the new president of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is putting a lot of emphasis on domestic cricket. Mirror learns that Dada is determined on increasing the remuneration for the first class and domestic cricketers and it could be one of the first decisions the BCCI under its 39th president would be taking. Over the last two days he and his colleagues have been having a briefing in the BCCI office over first class cricket and pay structure and it is likely the payment will go up substantially. What seems to be in Ganguly’s mind is that the payment gulf between first class and international cricket is too huge and he wants to shorten the gap.
