Is Your Child Being Bullied? Most Parents Are Unaware Until the Damage is Done

I never knew until much later in life that my eldest child had been bullied both at school and in our neighbourhood. He was a shy child, and nearly 30 years ago I was like most parents: unaware of the signs of bullying, didn’t know what questions to ask, and didn’t have any strategies for helping to stop bullying from happening.I was also quite shy myself, and wouldn’t have known where to start in taking on other parents, teachers, and schools – a long way different from the person I am today. My son, at 26 years of age, has borne the psychological scars and continues to work to overcome them to this day.
